Description

Mostly the same chapter, but there is a new bit at the end, as well as a few tweaks here and there:

~~~~~~~~
'What the hell happened?!'
The thought passed through Lori's mind over and over again as she stared at her brother's unconscious and literally cat like body, yet each time it passed through (which was about every five seconds) there was still no answer. Judging by the hefty silence, the shock of the discovery weighed on everyone else like an anvil, though her eyes never left her brother.
Minutes earlier, the sisters had all been busy cleaning the shattered pieces of the window pane, which had somehow fallen out without warning. It was soon after the mess was mostly taken care of that they heard Lincoln screaming bloody murder downstairs. In a rush of panic, all of the Loud sisters immediately raced to the door, Leni with Lori's cuticle scissors in hand. Somehow, the door lock wasn't picking, and it took many more tries and long, agonizing minutes of their brother screaming in until the door was finally unlocked.
Needless to say, the discovery of their brother's... uh... kitty like body caught them all off guard by quite a bit. At the very least, he seemed to have been conscious a few minutes earlier, though now, he was defiantly out cold.
Lori shook her head to get rid of the frozen state of panic that had overtaken her for a few minutes. Right now, her leadership was needed, though only god knows what she could do in this sort of situation.
Firstly, she turned to Lisa. She was the most obvious suspect for their brother's sudden species swap; the miniature Einstein already had four Jr. Nobel Prizes and created time travel, after all.
"Lisa, you literally better not be behind this!" Lori growled, her tone firm. The little genius looked up at her oldest sister, her previously shocked look now replaced by her usual emotionless demeanor.
"Negatory." Came her response, "The only studies I've done on elder brother this week was my routine fecal study."
However, instead of backing away in disgust like normal, Lisa's sisters squinted suspiciously.
"How do we know you're not lying?" Lola inquired, to which the miniature Einstein raised an eyebrow.
"Pardon?" She asked, "I'm afraid you're mistaken. Science isn't able to preform such feats yet."
"Says the dudette that made time travel!" Luna countered. Lisa sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Siblings, you must have gathered that I've gotten explicit warning from our mother and father to not use you guys as test subjects." Lisa argued.
"But that totes didn't stop you from trying to electrocute Lily!" Leni said, her tone sharp and biting. And if looks could kill, the look that the other sisters were giving Lisa would put her six feet under. Lori smacked her palm against her face.
"Guys, arguing's literally isn't going-" She tried to break in. Unfortunately for her, The fight broke out almost immediately after she got only a few words out. The eldest sibling pinched the bridge of her nose and prepared to break the fighting.
"Uuuuuugh... Where am I?"
This one sentence dispelled all action, the fight stopping and Lori halting in her tracks. All the sisters swung their heads around to see a groggy but awake Lincoln. Lisa took this opportunity to dislodge herself from Lana and Lucy's grasp. The four year old genius walked over to her brother, shortly before pulling out a small device. Lincoln tilted his head, squinting.
"Uh... what's that...?" He asked.
"It's a miniature X-radiation scanner that'll determine if you have any fractures or breaks in your skeletal system." At his confused look, she added, "Basically, this will make sure you don't have any broken bones."
"Oh..." He murmured. He rubbed the back of his head and winced, shortly before his eyes went so wide, they nearly burst out of his sockets. Letting out an inhuman screech, he looked worriedly at the old black and white and scooted away, his tail bushed to three times it's original size, and his ears slicked back to his head.
Then it looked like he just realized he had them.
He let out another screech and rapidly began checking various body parts for feline features. Finally, he looked back at the television, and he looked as if he was about to be sick.
Lori raised an eyebrow in confusion. Stepping forward, she asked, "Lincoln, what's wrong?"
"We gotta get out of here!" Lincoln yelled, grabbing Lisa by the sleeve and effectively dragging her along as he dashed towards his sisters, trying to push them upstairs.
"Hey, why are you feline like we cat to get going?" Luan tried to joke with her little brother, making everyone but him groan in annoyance. Lincoln looked back up at them with frantic eyes.
"No! Th-they might still be here!" He shuddered, before he pushed with even more vigor.
"I can't sense anything other than the usual ghosts." Lucy deadpanned. Her feline brother made a worried noise, but otherwise didn't respond. Lori stepped out of the crowd and gripped her brother by the shoulders.
"Linc, get a grip! There's nothing in the basement that'll hurt you!" She tried to tell him.
"But the de-AUUUGHH!" The cat boy's counter was cut off by his agonized graoning and him clutching his head with a pained expression. He then fell to his knees and flopped onto his stomach, panting heavily. The sisters could only look on in shock.
"Wh-what the hell was that, bro?!" Luna cried when the scream died down. Her brother sat up and gave her a look that reflected the same confusion Lori was feeling.
"I don't know..." He admitted quietly, "There was a lot of pain, and then I felt like I did when I-". This was cut off with a low groan. Lori promptly got to ordering her siblings around once she gathered herself.
"Well then, I want Lincoln out of the basement. It's clear he's doesn't want to be here anyways." Lori commanded. She then turned around to her brother and asked in a softer tone, "Can you stand up?"
The boy swallowed thickly and tried to push himself to his feet, but his legs were wobbly and he looked as if he'd pass out any minute, which wasn't unnoticed.
"Just great." The teen muttered. She turned to her sisters and then ordered, "Then I want Lynn and Lucy to act as his shoulders to lean on. Lisa, you run the tests to see what the hell happened to him. And I'll tell mom and dad."
"What about the rest of us?" Leni asked.
"You guys can be his support. He literally needs it."
With that out of the way, the rest of the siblings went upstairs, leaving Lori alone for the sake of privacy.
She pulled out her phone from her pocket and stared at it for twenty seconds, nervously sweating. Obviously this would go well; how the heck were they supposed to believe her without seeing it themselves?
Nonetheless, she dialed her mother's number. To her luck, she picked up almost immediately.
"H-hi mom..." Lori began.
"Hi sweetie!" Rita said on the other side, "You called at the perfect time! I just got in the car with your father!"
"Hey kiddo!" Lori heard her father say. Lori sucked a breath through her teeth. Her parents seemed to be in a relatively good mood.
"Something wrong?" She heard her mom say, to which she sighed.
'Okay. I can't beat around the bush with this'
"Actually... no... Lincoln... he, uh, passed out..."
"WHAT!? Is he okay, Lori, what happened!?"
Lori sighed. Okay, so far so good. Now she needed to get the rest out. God know how they'll react to this...
"He's fine, I think... he's awake, but, uh..."
"But what?" She heard Lynn Sr. ask. Lori felt her stomach twist in knots.
"He... he's turned... he's literally turned into a cat..." She finally spat out.
For a few moments, the other end was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. For a bit, Lori was afraid they had hung up, unable to believe her story. Finally, after a few minutes, her mom spoke.
"Honey... how did Luan convince you to join in on her prank?" She said slowly, as if she was still trying to process what she just heard. Lori could understand greatly; when she first saw her brother, it took a while for her mind to accept what she was seeing.
"Mom, it's not a joke... he's really a cat!"
"Well humor me" Her mother's tone suddenly took a sharp edge, "If he's a cat, then how'd you recognize him?"
"He, uh, he looks about the same, except with... like, ears and a tail and fur- well, he still looks enough like Lincoln, except, uh, cattier."
"You really expect me to believe that? Lori, sweetie, I don't know what Luan did to bribe you, but you better stop this right now!" Rita sighed. Lori flinched at her tone, trying to push down her own frustration.
"M-mom, I'm not lying." She managed to sputter out, thankfully without the venomous tone she thought it would come out with.
"Honey, listen to your mother." Lynn Sr. warned with a stern tone. Lori groaned in frustration, reaching the end of he rope.
"WHEN YOU COME HOME, YOU'RE IN FOR ONE HELL OF A SURPRISE THEN!" She yelled into the phone, shortly before hanging up. She rubbed her temples and took a deep breath in, repeating this action over and over until she cooled her jets. When she had managed calmed herself down, she walked up the stairway.
Fifteen minutes had passed since the phone call. The other sister's had finally managed to get their only brother to calm down, assuring him that nothing was out to get him, though Lori took notice that he still seemed tense. But everyone was shocked to find out how the phone call went.
"Oh trust me, if I wanted to prank mom and dad like that, it'd be a lot more sophisticated than a prank call!"
"Huh, they are totes gonna be shocked when they see him!"
"Why would they think that?! Honestly, they're being a bunch of meatheads!"
"I'm not entirely surprised by this reaction; the circumstances are certainly unusual."
"I think 'unusual' is putting it lightly, sis."
Lincoln said nothing, only staring into space, clearly contemplating. Then, his ears pricked.
"They're coming home." He said suddenly, looking fearful. His sisters gazed at him with pity in their eyes.
It was then when Cliff, who had been watching from the corner with an irritated look in his eyes, suddenly leaped forward, aiming his claws right for Lincoln's nose.
Unfortunately, his claws hit their mark and sliced Lincoln's nose open. The cat-boy winced, before his eyes narrowed and shot Cliff with a glare that would make Lucy cower. He to his feet and hissed in outrage, the two circling each other. The sister looked at the scene with confusion, not sure if they should break up the impending fight, or stay out of their way.
That was quickly forgotten about however, when Rita and Lynn Sr. walked through the doorway. Everyone froze, and their parents' faces went from neutral to shocked within a second. Lincoln shifted his feet and looked towards the stairway frantically, clearly nervous and slightly embarrassed.
"Uh... I... Uh... Um...", Rita's mouth worked up and down relentlessly, seemingly trying to find the words to describe her shock. Lynn Sr. stood as still as a statue as he spoke:
"Son... What happened... Lisa... she didn't have anything to do with it, right?"
"I'm afraid not, father." Lisa said, "In fact, we have absolutely no clue what happened to elder brother."
That was when Rita finally found her words.
"Well, k-kids, I owe you an apology." She finally said, "I didn't... it just... it sounded so ridiculous and I thought it couldn't possibly be true..."
She drooped like a wilted flower, wiping a few tears from her eyes.
"I'm sorry..." she murmured, thought it looked like it was mostly directed at Lincoln. The mother of eleven walked over towards her son and smothered him in a giant bear hug. He looked slightly surprised, but still embraced it.
"And I thought you'd kick me out because I look like... this" He muttered, to which Lynn Sr. looked confused.
"Son, why would we do that?" He inquired, walking over to the cat child, "If that happened... what kind of parents would we be?"
Lynn Sr. gave his son an encouraging smile, which Lincoln returned gratefully. Lori smiled, partly at the scene before her, and partly to remind her brother that's his family would alway be there for him.
"I hate to break up the moment, but I would like to run a few tests on Lincoln" Lisa interrupted. With that, they all backed away, Lisa gesturing for her brother to come with her. He did so reluctantly, eyebrows creased in worry.
...
It was dinnertime when Lisa finally brought Lincoln back downstairs. The little genius was carrying a clipboard and writing a few things down, while her older brother was rubbing his furry arm and wincing.
"Took you long enough." Lynn Sr. said, bringing in a steaming pan of Lynnasagne, the whole room perking up. Especially Lincoln.
"That smells awesome!" He declared, eagerly sitting down in his seat. His father smiled.
"Good that you're feeling better, champ!" He chuckled. Lisa then finished what she was writing down, and cleared her throat.
"I have good news, curious news, and bad news" She stated, "The good news, our brother is going to be fine. In fact, I believe his ligaments and bone structure should be more feline, meaning he shall be more flexible and energetic. Bad news, I have yet to figure out how elder brother's sudden metamorphosis happened. He tried repeatedly to tell me, but he always doubles over in pain. Now he simply refuse to inform me of what has happened."
"And the curious news?" Lori asked, a bit worried at the last bit. So the pain wasn't a one time thing, or, well, two time thing.
At this, her younger sister smirked.
"Lincoln happens to like ear scratchies" She said with barely disguised glee. Lincoln blushed and lowered his ears.
"Th-they get itchy, okay?" He muttered quickly, much to his family's amusement.
Later that night, Lincoln had gone to bed early. It wasn't that much of a surprise, considering the circumstances. However, mom and dad had called a family meeting almost as soon as he closed his door.
Currently, Lori was sitting in on of the seat closest to their parents. Rita was scanning the assembled, murmuring crowd to be sure everyone was there, while Lynn Sr. was anxiously twiddling his thumbs. Finally, when the mother of eleven children was finished, she yelled, "Alright, family meeting begins now!"
Almost immediately, the children hushed, making the room deathly silent. Lori couldn't remember a time when it had been this quiet.
Lynn Sr. spoke next:
"We called this family meeting to discuss a couple of things with you girls. First, I want you girls to make no mention of this except for Lisa.". The patriarch of the family gestured for his second youngest daughter, who was sitting by Lily at the far end of the table, to speak, to which she nodded gratefully and cleared her throat.
"I'm planning to study elder brother over the next seventy-two hours to see what I can find, before turning in my reports to a couple colleagues of mine, to which they'll hopefully come to study our brother for themselves and gather more information on his condition." She said in her typical wordy lisp, saliva flying from her mouth.
"But, like, what if Linky's just really scared and he doesn't wanna share the deets? I mean, I think he was just turned into a kitty!"
"I appreciate the sentiments, second eldest sister, but this is a serious matter, and if we want to know exactly how this happened, he must be questioned immediately."
Lola raised her hand like she was at school, before asking in a rude voice, "Are gonna put him in an electric chair?"
Lisa raised an eyebrow at that while her family, minus Lily, looked extremely confused.
"Care to elaborate?" The miniature Einstein inquired.
"Lana said one of her friends told her about some chair you sit in and it'll shock you and make your eyes fall out.". Lisa blinked, before muttering something about asking Lana about it later. Lori felt about the same way as her smart little sister.
"Well, I'm happy to report I shall not use such cruel methods to interrogate our brother; that electric chair was mostly used to kill criminals who have committed serious offenses anyways. Lincoln has simply been transformed into a bipedal felis catus."
"I only understand half of that, but okay." Lola grumbled.
Lynn then immediately blurted out, "And why do you want your weird-ass science buddies to find out what happened to Lincoln? You're the only person able to do that in the first place!"
Lisa looked shocked and sputtered, Rita and Lynn Sr. looked puzzled and worried at the exact same time, and Lori face palmed. Here we go again.
"Lynn, I believe we have already had this discussion.". Lori had to hand it to her sister; she was good as making her voice seem as bored as ever even though her teemed with outrage.
"Nuh-uh! Linc woke up for we could settle this for real, ya little bitch!" Lynn growled, her fist slamming into the table. Suddenly, a few of her siblings were starting to agree, while others protested.
"Lynn Loud Jr., that is no way to talk to your sister!" Rita yelled over the growing commotion. However, it was too late. Lynn leaped across the table and bowled her sister over, giving her a nice and painful uppercut to the jaw. Lisa kicked and squirmed, but her older sister had her firmly pinned. At this point, the other siblings minus Lori and Lily were getting into fights, and soon, the dining room was a chaotic mass of punching, kicking, shouting, and rolling around.
Lori groaned at the chaos before diving in, promptly getting kicked in the face by Luna and Lana, and then being sucker punched by a wayward fist right in her stomach. This was going to be a while.
