Event 16: Ambition

He cursed the king who set dragons upon innocents. Disdained the simpletons who sought bloodshed over peaceful reclamation, those who laid low his fellows so far from home.

What was a beast to a prophecy? An earthly deity to their Mother of light?

He questioned no order, for his people's leaders were known to be kind and just.
For a cause so divinely ordained, all was as it must be.

So the distances between in time and space, for the consequence of absence that followed,—
It must be just. It must have meaning. It must be a lesson, one he'd long known and lived, but always, always, always lost to time and selfish whim(...)

Liam had been apart from his twin many times in life, but always with the expectation to see him again. After Tharoneos banished all from the Leywood, he could not grasp the now palpable truth: that in their chosen Templar duty, it may be less of if and more of when. He was no stranger to heartbreak and separation and undeserved loss, for every healer crossed that bridge. Yet it cut no shallower when it came to those he knew and loved.

He turned to Aurea, as he ever did. In prayers he asked for safe returns, with promised devotions, well-taught lessons. And after days, weeks, he is answered.
Affirmed in belief and the compassion of Her grace, but mortified by his incapacity as one, Liam reflects on what it means to perform one's duty... and as he is, he is unable to stand on his own.
