"Ace, NO!" You cried out, the kayak was swiftly approaching the narrow branch of the river.
"Live a little, (Y/N)!" Ace laughed. The kayak picked up speed and went into the narrower path, you cringed and clung to the paddle. The river began to widen, and Ace pushed the boat to the left using his paddle. The sound of rushing water became louder, and louder. Your eyes widened. Water plumed over large rocks. Fish were launched several feet into the air and splashed back down only to be launched back into the air again. "Take a picture of the fish!" He hollered.
"Now's not the time! Look out for that rock!" You shouted over the sound of rushing water. Ace forcefully tried to steer the kayak out of the way.
"Brace yourself!" Ace warned. You clung to the kayak with one hand, and to the paddle with the other. The kayak was launched up high into the air. It landed back onto the choppy waters with a loud, "plunk!" Water was splashing into the kayak rapidly, and the turn that you needed to make was approaching. You had to think fast, you wiped the water from your face.
"We need to get to there!" You exclaimed and pointed to a stream branching off from the river. The kayak skipped on the rocks. Would you make it? Your heart pounded in your chest harder than a bass drum. The boat made a sudden turn to the right, "Damn!" You shouted in frustration. You sped right by the turn that you needed to make.
"Don't give up, if we can stop the kayak on some rocks, we still might have a chance to get to that lake!" He shouted. "Paddle on your left side!" You did as he said. Shallow rocks made the water a milky white color, you wedged the kayak on top of them and you sighed in relief.
The boat shifted off the rocks.
"Shit!" You swore as the kayak spun around rapidly and the kayak went airborne and plunged into the water below. You fell out of the boat upon impact. You struggled against the current.
"(Y/N)! Grab my hand!" Ace called out and reached for you. The kayak was stuck in between two rocks. You reached back and grasped his hand. Your eyes widened as you felt your hand slip. The kayak shifted and began to move again.
"There's no use, let go!" You shouted and kicked with all your might against the flow of water.
"No!"
"Don't worry about me, I can manage on my own! Just toss me my bag and we'll meet downstream!" You commanded. He tossed your bag to you in you caught it. A wave of unsureness overtook him, and he hesitantly let go.
