The sound effects they used for the U.F.O's still creeps me out even to this day.

I've always been a fan of this show, and most especially of these UFOs, but you gotta admit, it's one of the most impractical designs for a space craft ever...there's not much room for anything inside.  For many years, I never realized they had those large "vanes" in there on the antigravity plates.  When I was a kid, I thought they fired the laser beam from those antigravity plates.  I've seen cutaway designs of the inside, and although they UFOs were bigger than I'd once thought, they still would have been very cramped inside, and not much room for propulsion, life-support, etc.  Of course, I think they explained this in the series that they mostly traveled in a sort of stasis, until reaching destination.  But it's still my most favorite design for a UFO ever.  There's never been anything before or after like Gerry Anderson's UFOs.
