And, might I add, the red skill wearing the crown, as if calling the musician
King of what he was, is pretty nice too!

I added that crowned skull at last, the text took me hours but when I finished I wanted to have a little more fun on this picture.
In fact, the skull represents the mood of the lyrics, meaning God's gonna kick your ass, I guess it could hurt a lot. And the crown is an obvious reference to Queen's logo.
But we can read it differently, like "Freddie's dead, but he still rules".

The only thing that looks amazing is the huge, 50-foot tall lettered F.

I wish I could design such a letter, but it's a free font called Royal Initialen. I just tuned it with that kind of spiral and the red floral background.

Ha, awesome. Not many songs would stand up to this kind of treatment, but Seven Seas of Rhye is perfect. I like how it sits alone and the page, and the illumination is great!

Sometimes when I choose a song, I've got a vision of what it could look like. It's not automatic, many songs require a lot of research...
For Seven Seas of Rhye, I saw really early an old fashioned manuscript composition on a paper colored background, with that kind of old gothic font, like God was talking through the holy bible saying "Beware you or I'll kick your ass". I hope this is what the picture shows.

Love the mixture of medieval manuscript style typography and layout with the modern graphical elements. Nice.

I never felt so attracted to old style manuscript since I worked on this picture. I would love to make other posters of that kind. Maybe one day I'll try calligraphy.

- Search for pictures to inspire you.
- Find good fonts. These are great but there's many others.
- Use rulers. A lot of rulers.
- Learn about kerning.
- Be patient.
- Have a beer or two (optional).
- Show me when you have finished (necessary).
