In my personal headcanons, Carsoro was born before the accretion, which was what caused the afterlife to come into being. They were part of the groups to help map this new bizzare realm, but even years after that they found themself returning. Something about the dream-like quality, and not having to worry about pain or hunger there kept them coming back to it. They met Odozeir there, but that's a story for another day.
