If it is night, the Eevee will evolve into Umbreon and a equal-level Hadeon will appear in the empty party slot. If it is day, the Eevee evolves into Espeon and an equal-level Hadeon of the opposite gender will appear,
If it is dawn or dusk, you do not need an empty slot to evolve your Eevee. However, you will only get the Hadeon and not the Umbreon/Espeon.
