Description
Alright, folks, this is B-Master here and before we get into the concept, let me tell you the science behind one of the bang up ideas for our new DreamWorks crossover project: Lucky Spirit. There will be some spoilers ahead but don't worry, i'm only covering the logic of what we saw in the Lucky Spirit trailers and TV spots. There will be spoilers to other films from DreamWorks and Disney. Please be advised.
As you may noticed, the idea of giving Lucky some high speed a la Sonic the Hedgehog came from before Spirit Untamed came out. When i heard about the film, i wanna do my own version with Jose Ramierz (KirbyStarWickett) involved as my producer. As we learned what it was about and the character designs were revealed, we immediately got psyched into the Spirit genre of DreamWorks. One of the things i wanna do with this project is to have a concept of our main hero, Lucky Prescott, to have her horse, Spirit Jr., inside of her as a spirit. This is because the series itself was called Spirit for a reason and gives us the question: "What does Spirit means in terms than Riding Free?" Disney's Brother Bear was our inspiration, showing a scene called Transformation. It showed a man being turned into a bear after killing it's mother. We don't wanna do that since this is different to the concept. What we wanna do is keep her human, keep her safe, and try to keep horse aspects from Spirit inside Lucky. Not to give her a horse tail or ears on her head, or possibly make her body full horse and a head (due to showing it to Spirit Untamed and Abominable storyboard artist Daniel Tal for a misunderstanding) but to keep the same Lucky we know of and see her in the same situation as Turbo did. Which this film is loosely based on that from our style. What Turbo showed us how it would work is in this pic here. It shows how the nitro fused in his DNA gave him speed. For Lucky Spirit, this is gonna be different as shown from the trailer, seeing Spirit's soul fused within her DNA by the force of nature and how she runs just like the one shown from Dakunart's artwork. It's an interesting concept to try and do like DreamWorks does for their styles of genre. What Shrek did was to spoof fairy tale genres, for The Bad Guys, it spoofs Crime films, Kung Fu Panda spoofs Martial Arts in an original concept. We went on root for the whole Kung Fu Panda pipeline and see how it played out and the result was untamed as Lucky herself.
This has been an in-depth look beyond the main girl from the Spirit Untamed film and the Spirit Riding Free series. And you can check out Lucky Spirit in one month when it's on Deviantart on June 23.
