Description
I hate when people (or bodies of people IE governments etc) do things in Gods (or Allah or whatever you want to call him/her/it/them) name! Most of us have sort of forgotten whats going on over there in Iraq. That doesn't mean its not happening anymore. We've just started to get used to the thought. Whether we like it or not.Anyway, back to the topic:
I get frustrated when people (or governments) say they follow god and then do something like.... Invade a country?? This piece is dedicated to using God as an excuse for evil.
Just sick of people going out and doing things in Gods name....
And now i'm very sleepy!
*goes to sleep*
DD! WOW! THANKYOU SO MUCH!
Go check these peeps out!
THANKYOU!
I will try and reply to all your comments and such but it might take a little while...
P.S. It seems that some people are wondering how religion comes into play here. One of my main points in this argument is the official US motto. 'In God We Trust'. ( See here: [link] )
I do not believe that you can say such a thing, such a bold statement, without at least IMPLYING that everything you do is of god.
Once you begin to portray your allegiance (If you will) In such a way, you can no longer really separate the two anymore (State and religion).
But thats my belief anyway...
EDIT: Uploaded separate print version because I had to screw with the image to get it a little larger for print. See:

i like how this can kind of go both ways .. you have people using religion as an excuse to do harm to others. and you have people seeking religion to stop the violence

Well what about the Crusades? Do you believe that was justified? I only know a little bit about them, like, they were taking the land back for the Jewish, but wars like the Iraq war...well I just want it over with. But there will be a war in God's name soon, though, it will be the final war before the end of the world, so I guess that will be the true war that you can fight for God's name I guess, right?

If you believe in such things. But you have to be careful. May have thought the end was coming before and they fought in his name. But in vein.
I dont believe any bloodshed of that magnitude can be justified...

You are totally right!
And God Never told us this kind of orders.
Look what God really told us, trough Apostle James, in his Chapter: 4 called "Things to Avoid":
What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?
You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.
You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: "He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us"?
But He gives a greater grace Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."
Submit therefore to God Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
Do not speak against one another, brethren He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it.
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor?
Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit."
Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that."
But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.
Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.

Brilliant passage I must say. However, it can be mis-used. As can a lot of the bible.
But I appreciate the passage!
Thanks!

You're welcome!
And I'm agree with you. Wars are caused by the abuse of selfish and fanatic religious leaders who manipulated biblical passages for their own benefit and targets.
The apostles Peter and Judas (brother of James) gives us extraordinary warnings against such people, for example look at what each of them says:

Greetings and congratulations again for this great piece of art!

I definately agree. Its so funny how the U.S. claims to be founded on Christian beliefs but its the same people who claim this that are the first who want to go to war. so much for "turn the other cheek"

I was thinking about that not too long ago.
I hate when people do something so stupid and say, "Oh it's Ok because it's God's will." Is it really? Is it God's will or are you sugar-coating a f-up? What happened to free will?
Atleast that's my interpretation.
Symbolic and well executed!

I so deeply agree with your sentiments. I have to defend and protect my faith all the time because of those that are out there using my God as an excuse to be insanely prejudice and hateful towards others. It is a sick cycle.
This image is wonderful. I love that you used white for the people, church and tanks. Not sure if it was intentional, but it is almost as though it is all meant to look pure, when it isn't what it is about anyways. Thanks for this.

What a powerful piece. You did a great job conveying something so convoluted with such a simplistic style. Fantastic.
On a more technical note, the detail in the tanks is very well done, while not becoming too busy and cluttered. The decision to make the people "block heads" was a very nice touch as well.
Congratulations on the Daily Deviation.
