Description So, I was planning to start a Frigate design today, then I thought "hold on, how many frigates would Earth need?"  Since I knew the FSE would be interstellar to an extent, I reasoned that I should get an undertanding of how many colonies Earth would have.  Then I realised that knowing what colonies Earth would have wouldn't be enough, since military commitments would naturally be heavier in more populated systems, or where trade routes met.  And down the rabbit hole I went...

The above map shows every star system in Federated States of Earth territory (claimed or settled) - that is effectively every star with a potentially-habitable planet within 15LY of Sol, and just about everything in-between.

"Why isn't it 3D?"  Because I want to reach the age of at least 60 before I start going bald, so that's 30+ years off!    The relationships between the stars is accurate in a 3D perspective, however (in terms of which stars are close to one another).

"What are 'Quantumspace Routes' anyway?"  Not Quantumspace like Babylon 5 Quantumspace.  Quantumspace Routes are my 'FTL-cheat', reasoned as locations where the gravitational relationships between stars are strong enough for establishing a fold-space tunnel (basically a wormhole) allowing rapid transits ('hops') between systems.  Planetary Lagrange Points are also areas suitable for shorter Quantumspace hops within a solar system.  While it is technically possible in-universe for a Quantumspace tunnel to be established between any two points, the power requirements are so high as to make it virtually impossible unless both ends of the tunnel meet the aforementioned requirements, so all ships have to use lagrange points or Quantumspace Routes to cover interplanetary and interstellar distances respectively.

There is a Free Download included.  The map takes up a little more than one A4 sheet of paper.  Should anyone (for whatever reason, lol) want a full-size copy, I've enabled the 'sell prints' feature.  There's noticeable blurring past 16"x24" print sizes, so I'd recommend staying within that scale unless you really want one larger or really really want to support my work.  At some point, I may make a higher-resolution version of this that'll be better at larger scales.  Default DeviantArt License applies.
