i couldn't wait no more to post this picture of this Male Purple FinchI dont know if its an advantage or disadvantage to shoot birds during winter. cuz u mostly tend to have gray or brown backgrounds!
i hope you guys like it....its one of my fav birds shots so far

So cute, I never saw pink or red finch, we are having yellow kind around here and gray color are most common of course.

sparrows are all over the place...but some are colorful as well,,,some got red/orange fohawks.
i know that gold finched get yellow during summer and grayish in winter...while purple and house finches are of course purple/red during winter

?? has this been retouched? I thought 1/60 would blur and ISO 1000 would be just white lol!

i shot this through my car's tented window so it was lil dark for the lens.
and believe me or not, i needed every bit of that ISO and slow (but fast enough) shutter speed. and i still had to re-tough the brightness
and i was very close, lets say as close as a side mirror of a car driving next to you on the highway

That is absolutely stunning! I think the gray background is an advantage in this case, I love the contrast it creates with the red bird. Really wouldn't mind having this on a wall. Great job!

I can only see advantages in taking pictures of birds in snow. (mainly because I like snow) But also because the gray's and white's is a very neutral color so you can express other colors more. If you get what I mean. ^-^
