Description

Oof, this took a while to do... Okay! This is a map of my "fakemon" Pokemon region, Aztlamet. You should be able to click on the picture to zoom in.

About the region:

Aztlamet is a region based on Africa (especially Egypt) and South America/Mesoamerica (Incas, Mayans, Aztecs). It also has a tundra area to the northwest and an Australian-based area southeast, with a mountainous area to the northeast. The name is a combination of Kemet (the ancient Egyptian name for their land), and Aztlan (the name for the ancestral home of the Aztecs). As such, most of the Pokemon I will be coming up with are based on animals and such from these places. The southern area of the main island is almost entirely jungle, the center is savanna, and the north is all desert with hidden oases.

The Gimmick:

Every region has some kind of gimmick like Mega Evolution, Gigantamax, and so on. In Aztlamet, certain species of Pokemon can be bred at special locations to create hybrid Pokemon. Ancient artifacts can be found throughout the region depicting what Pokemon can breed hybrids and at which location. The Professor is very interested in these powerful hybrids.

Towns and other locations:

Root Point - A tiny hamlet located in the Outlands. This is the hometown/starting point of the protagonist.

Kanzate - A beach town with an underwater aquarium showing off the flourishing Grand Reef. This town is the location of the Pokemon Lab/Professor.

Dampstone - A modest town. Location of the Water Gym.

New Synda - Based on Sydney, Australia. It's the largest city of the Outlands and home to both the Fighting-type Gym and the world's largest Pokemon Contest Hall.

Gladport - A waterfront town that constantly ships goods in and out. They also ferry people over to the main island.

Rio del Bosque - The largest city of the jungle area. It's almost entirely built around lush mountains and hills. Somewhat based on Rio de Janeiro. There is a giant statue of Arceus here. It is also the location of the Flying-type Gym.

Temple of War - An ancient pyramid of mossy stone. It holds secrets of an ancient clan.

Skull Lake - Shaped like an upside-down human skull. Dangerous Pokemon live here.

Temple of Life and the Overgrown City - It is difficult to get to, and even worse to study, as it is overgrown with large, old trees and vines. Many rare and dangerous Pokemon live here. The Temple of Life has a shrine called the Shrine of Quetzerpent, which is one of two locations where hybrids can be bred.

Bolima - Free of the jungle's snare and located on a tall cliff. It has a great view. Home of the Temple of Sight, which is also the Grass-type Gym. The locals here are very adamant about preserving their culture.

Brazonga - A tribe of ancient blood. They like to fight.

Cape Kina - Location of the Broken Cape. Legends say that a powerful Pokemon was the cause of its breaking. Location of the Normal-type Gym.

Zulsa - A tribe of peaceful people who live near the River of Life. They trade and sell many goods.

Whirlpool Lake - No people or Pokemon enter the water here, lest they get sucked in by the powerful whirlpool. The whirlpool never ceases, leading many to believe that a mythical Pokemon may be the cause.

Gizaro - Largest city of the desert area. Based on both Cairo and Giza. Location of the Ground-type Gym. The docks here can ferry people over to the start of Victory Road.

Riversbirth - A town located near the mouth of the River of Life and on the edge of the Grand Desert. Sandstorms are a problem here. Location of the Psychic-type Gym.

King's Crypt - A giant pyramid that is filled with treasure and traps. Few are allowed to enter.

Sunken City Entrance - Currently filled with so much sand from sandstorms that no one has ever gotten inside. There is a shrine deep within where hybrids can be bred, known as the Shrine of Horalcon.

Lost Tundra - Snow, ice, and evergreens. There's a large cave hidden deep in the forest there.

Mt. Kijaro - Has three peaks, each taller than the last, and each with a shrine on top. Each shrine holds a different purpose.

Dragon Mist Village - A Japanese-styled village hidden within the mist produced by the Spring of Wisdom. Location of the Dragon Gym.

Victory Road - A trainer must make their way through Victory Road to get to the Pokemon League.
