Description
The Chaldean tribe would gather once a year and celebrate Eid. Azer to Abraham:“–Come with us to celebrate today!” said.
Abraham returned on the way, making excuses for his illness. He went to the hospital. There were idols made of silver, copper, and wood. Food was placed in front of them to be blessed. The largest idol was seated on a throne made of gold. He was dressed in silk robes and a crown was placed on his head.
Abraham broke all the idols with an ax except the big one. Then he hung the ax around the neck of the great idol. In the evening, when the Chaldean tribe returned from the feast place to the idol-hane, they were astonished at the sight they saw. By guessing:
“–If he could do this job, only Abraham would do it!” they said. Then they immediately found Abraham and asked:
“–Did you do this job?”
Abraham replied:
“The great idol did not want anyone else to be worshiped but himself. That's why he was angry with the others. In the end, he may have smashed them all with an ax and slung the ax over his shoulder. Ask him if you want! Let him tell you the situation!”
Pagan folk:
“–Idols don’t talk!” said.
Thereupon, Abraham said to them:
“Then, how can these helpless beings, who cannot even protect themselves, protect you? Will you still not be wise?” said.
