I had started this piece a while ago but didn't get a chance to finish what with the crazyness of christmas. Tonight was kinda feeling lonely what with Christmas coming and I sitting here alone in a quiet dark house...so I decided to finish this painting.This one goes out to everyone on this Christmas day, to all my friends and those that have inspired me with their work or wonderful words of encouragement, to anyone and everyone. It is a reminder to those that feel lonely that you are not alone. There is always someone there to walk beside you, even if just in spirit.

I have to tell you that your work here was a bit of a 'pick me up' on this Christmas, my grandma died on christmas eve morning. So I realy have taken to heart this picture, and the discription, well done.

This is the most enchanting piece of art I have seen in a while and I am quite blown away. I love it! I love how it seems like the light is coming out of his eyes! What a magnificent piece! Way to go!!

Wow amazing, I love the colors and the detailed work, also am stunned by the blue reflection on the lion's mane. Nice expression the lion wears as well. Very nice and this piece has more meaning then any words could truely decribe.

This is beautiful. It reminds me so much of Aslan. I don't know if that was your intent, but he comes across as very "Aslan" - strong, compassionate, mystic.

*nods* I know exactly what you mean about discouraging critiques on pieces that are close to you. At any rate, I don't think it really needs much of a critique - it's beautiful! I love the soft golden glow on his face and the swirly background.. and as usual the way you do fur and musculature is just gorgeous

This is absolutley beautiful... I can't get over the amazing lighting, the curly whiskers... I honestly don't know what anyone would critique on this. 
I've always wondered...do you use a reference when you paint something realistic like this?

actually its funny, for a lot of pieces I do, I usually have 5-10 pictures open of the animal at different angles or showing different details just as a helpful guide but for this one I didn't that I recall..I just sorta painted..probably just oggled lions enough by now XD

Excellent. Very well done. This picture reminds me of the first book in the Narnia series. Particularly the part when Aslan sings the world of narnia Into being. Awesome. Too Too Good.
