Description When I saw the Quinton Reviews video “How Garfield Lost his magic”, I felt an interest to go and check out Jim Davis’s work. I watched some of the Garfield specials, I would have read Gnorm Gnat, until I realized that only a couple of the strips have resurfaced because it was only published in a local newspaper, and that Davis dosen’t want them to be seen, and then I stumbled upon his other comic strip, U.S. Acres, and read through a majority of the strips. The most surprising thing about the strip, was the inclusion of two characters, Cody a troublemaking, dim witted mutt, who would often cause a ruckus in the farm the characters reside at, and Blue, a responsible, cheerful cat who tried to prevent Cody from getting into set rukuses and would sometimes loose her temper. These characters only appeared in about 12 of the strips, then disappear and never appear in the U.S. Acres segments in Garfield and Friends. Maybe Davis thought that having a cat and dog in both Garfield and U.S. Acres was redundant, or maybe he wanted to have a smaller cast of characters. Maybe he liked the others more. Maybe he couldn’t think of things for them to do. Whatever the case, I thinks it’s a shame that they didn’t get that much of a chance to shine, which is why I started to take a liking to making fan art of these characters. I hope you enjoy this one strip I came up with featuring these two.
