Description First thing's first:

- The Kyo sprite you're looking at is not original. This is a direct sprite rip of Kyo SP, the striker version of Kyo from The King of Fighters 99 Evolution, which has made only one appearance in the main series to date. The background was cut in Paint before it was scaled down in Paint.NET. The nullDC emulator tends to show sprites at 2x its scale, which is why I needed to adjust the scale.

- The Syo sprite at the right is actually part of a standing animation that I'm not sure who made. The thing about this however is that his old face was edited in (I made this adjustment to my copy of Ahuron's Syo Kirishima in M.U.G.E.N.

- Suzuki (as we will refer to Shingo's disguise as to distinguish him and Saishu Kusanagi) has had his sprite already revised in the last deviation, so I won't simply copy and paste that into this submission. Actually, I plan to create a new standing frame based on his crouch stance in later games, so the standing frame present here is merely a place holder. I will revise this deviation once I finish the new frame.

That said, I originally referred to this team as the "Kusanagi Challengers Team". But I realized this wouldn't make sense if Suzuki and his flameless disciples is "defecting" from the Kusanagi Clan in my story, so I went with "Exiled".

You can stop reading the description here. The next paragraphs cover what I've been up to since I made the last deviation.
________________

To be honest, I won't actually start writing fan fiction on this account, I'm just coming up with ideas. However, I DID make a prologue of the events that lead to Shingo's invention of the martial art he made, and I even took the time to explain how the teams were formed leading up to the beginning of a King of Fighter's tournament. The teams however are rather weird, and aren't the teams you usually see in the main games. Creating Shingo's disguise came from my reluctance to not make any original characters in the story I made. I simply wanted to take what already exists, and do something new with them. Additionally, I wanted to make sure the teams had their own part in the story, and ensure that the characters weren't rearranged for no reason.

For that reason, I ended up making teams such as the "Martial Arts Masters Team" (Ryo, Kim, and Joe), who challenge Suzuki's proposal in proving the effectiveness of his new style against existing ones. These teams make up the sub plot. I realized later on that this allowed me for the opportunity to make more teams for the sub plot and bring back characters from the older games. Wolfgang Krauser for instance forms the "Outsiders Team" with Sho Hayate and Gai Tendo, and Athena & Momoko form the "Dance-Pop Idol Team" with Duck King. Athena's team is formed because Chin wants to take advantage of the tournament to test Sie and Bao's skills as the "Psycho Disciples Team", but this leads Athena and Momoko to worry about their well being.  The tournament also leads Robert to form the "Mutual Rivals Team" with Jhun Hoon and Billy Kane, and the "Art of Fighting Team" is now headed by Yuri Sakazaki, who is joined by Kasumi Todoh and Li Xiangfei. So you can see how split the fighters are because of the tournament and Suzuki's "defection".

Interestingly, I originally had a "Wrestlers Team" that was supposed to consist of Ramon, Tizoc and Raiden. But I then realized that Raiden never truly appeared in the older games, and debuted in the series starting at The KoF XII. Angel was put in his stead, but in return, this actually resulted in the formation of the "Mexico Team" because Ramon, Tizoc and Angel share the same birth place. They also answer to Suzuki's challenge, although it's more of a selfless participation, as Ramon and Tizoc have a shared liking for children. I would certainly have the three fighters have a sort of conflict with each other since there are qualities which would estrange Ramon and Tizoc's relationship, and with Angel showing a darker side to her light-hearted personality, it doesn't help much either.

I also had teams that make up the secondary plot, such as the "Wild Riot Team" (Iori, Leona, Yamazaki). The antagonists of this story involve a collective of the Hakkesshu, NESTS, and Those from the Past. With Orochi and followers of the Hakkesshu being involved somehow, this puts the "Wild Riot Team" in danger once again, and gives them a purpose somewhat.

The main teams consists of protagonists and rivals from the last three Sagas. They are the "Japan Team" (Kyo, Benimaru, Goro), "NESTS Renegades Team" (K, Kula, Whip), and the "Elisabeth Team" (Elisabeth, Shen Woo, Duo Lon). The antagonist teams consist of the "Yata Clan Team" (Chizuru, Maki, Kusanagi), and the "Exiled Challengers Team" (Kyo-9599/Kyo-SP, Saishu Suzuki, Kyo-9900/Syo Kirishima). I decided for Maki to be renamed "Maki Yata" to separate her from Chizuru. In this story, she is renamed by Chizuru to honor and respect her memory and dedication to the Yata Clan before her death.

Lastly, the teams that have the least part within the story are even affected as well. Mai, Andy, and Eiji form the "Ninjutsu Practioners Team", leaving Terry as the only core member of the "Fatal Fury Team", so he asks Tung Fu Rue and Hotaru Futaba for help. King is also the only core member of the "Women Fighters Team" as a result too, so May Lee and Hinako Shijo join in. May Lee however is the one who forms it rather than King due to her worry for Kim.

This brings the total amount of core participating teams to 18, and a total of 54 core fighters. But wait, there's more! Should Iori and Leona succumb to the Riot of the Blood, they'll be a part of this story as the "Orochi Blood Pact Team" with a version of Yamazaki known as "Wild Yamazaki", a Riot of the Blood-enhanced variation of himself that uses this animation and the colors used for the "Dark" version of his striker from The King of Fighters 99 Evolution.

Other characters participating in the story are a part of the single entry category, these people being Shingo himself, Diana, Foxy, and Adelheid. Anyways, if I ever decide to release the document regarding the prologue I came up with, I'll make sure to have this accompanied by an image of the teams like how I had an image of an original character accompanying an idea I had for Metroid some time ago.
