Description Though more pronounced here, this kind of modern "false front" architecture has become common in many areas of the US in recent years. So much so that most Americans I doubt even give it a second look. False front buildings go back to the 1800s in the US. Though associated with the Old West, they are actually common in the midwest states as well, and even exists on the east coast in small numbers. Besides creating a larger more impressive façade, this type of architecture also gives plenty of space for signage and advertising.
