mY HUSBAND RETURNS

"Within Lord Notch, I see a lion. I see one who is noble, and proud, and headstrong. I see one with honour, and ardor, so used to assuming the mantle of command that it becomes His second nature. I see someone with a loyalty that is hard to gain, but is immeasurably valuable once you have earned it. But, I also see anger. An anger with no reason, no precision, no holding back. When He strikes, He does so with no measured consideration. He does so with power, caring little of any destruction He causes. A righteous rage, the most dangerous kind, a rage that believes with utmost conviction that it's wielder is right, and everyone else is wrong. A blind fury that takes by force what it cannot take by charm. I see a lion with a friendly smile and a dangerous glint in His eye. A lion who protects His flock of sheep, but delights in reminding them who is predator, and who is prey.

"Within Lord Vile, I see a wolf. I see one who is charming, and magnetizing, and influential. I see one who can strike any deal, turn any head when He enters a room. I see one who could convince a man to murder his own mother, if He was so inclined. A wolf who is always the centre of attention, the golden one, the trader, the schemer, the merchant Lord. The leader of an adoring pack. But, I also see sickness in His pleasure, a fervid attachment to material fancies, a lust that cannot be satiated by peace of the soul. I see one who longs for more, more than His vast territory. One that takes from others to please Himself, yet still manages to convince them that He loves them.

"Within Lord Hero, I see a serpent. I see one who is precise, and calculating, and absolute. I see one who is weaker in raw power than His lion of a brother yet a master of His magical craft. I see one who conceals himself in shadow and waits for the perfect opportunity to strike, one who reigns with an iron fist and rains hellfire down upon any who oppose him, or threaten His following. I see one who is headstrong, a born, perfect leader of men. I see eyes that betray no hidden purpose nor secret agenda, and a smile that makes you regret asking for details. A serpent who might spend weeks wearing down the will of a single morsel before consuming it. I see a ferocity of kindness, a certain aggressive love, a desire to protect and to shield those He loves, even at the expense of His own life. I see an enigma of conflicting ideals, the thrill of pain and the quiet exhilaration of fatherly protection coalescing into one being. One who is unfit to rule yet perfect for the throne. I do not see an angel. I see a Hero. And I do now know if He is a blessing or a curse for he certainly has to potential to be both, or either, or nothing at all."
