The king is either dead, or sick in some way.
The kid is either trying to face the pressure of having to replace him, or trying to usurp him. In both case it's not good because that mean he can be made to snap much easier...

...Oh he's so tiny cause he's a just a boy. That explains a lot. Well that gives everything involving him a new impression.
On the other hand, I have to wonder if he's really the kind of spoiled prince to say "I'll take you to him" only to take him to a grave/prison and then kill the man, or if his father is genuinely indisposed(due to illness or something else) and that ties into his motivations with Hero and the Origin and what-not.

The way he phrased it at the end implies that the King is indisposed in some way and not able to make contact with reality's denizens.
Whether it be by the prince's hand or not remains to be seen.
Add in the fact that the prince is consorting with Hero...
I don't think this unnamed man is going to last long.
