people should focus more on drawing than using these bases which will pretty much give you zero training

Actually bases can help people, though it depends on what type of person that is. Though there are people who use bases for a easy drawing alternative, there are plenty of starting artists who use bases to study a certain drawing style or study the anatomy of the base character/dummy. Hope this helps.
(( Though again, I do agree that there are people who use bases for a cheap drawing tactic, and sometimes I don't even understand it myself.

Why do people use bases? Why not just focus on drawing or creating your own art because bases dont make your art better at all, in fact it probably makes it worse.

I used bases before working completely on my own. I think they can be used as a good tool for learning anatomy. First I drew on top of bases, then I traced the base and removed the parts that didn't fit, then I used a base as a reference and now I don't really use them. I only use them for practice now, but if it wasn't for bases, I wouldn't have improved nearly as quickly as I did.
Besides, you can learn your way, let others learn theirs. Surely you can do something more constrictive than commenting 'bases are stupid' on a base?

I learn drawing by following tutorials, which explain a lot better anatomy and physics than simple bases. When you learn anatomy, it's a lot easier to draw your own poses.

I do the same exact thing, there's a lot of good YouTube videos and youtubers that help with anatomy.

(This is just my opinion)
I suck at drawing bodies, but i'm great with hair and accsesories. So bases help me get a good peice of work out of my time. Because a body with terrible proportions(ect.) and then really good hair and accsesories wouldn't make sense. Wouldn't it?
they can be used for getting better. Say you're good at drawing bodies, but bad with hair. it would be quicker to use a base and practise on that, rather than taking ages perfecting a body and then practising the hair.

I don't really need a base but every now and then I dislike my own art style so I use a base. not often anymore tho

the art style does not matter a whole lot,whether it's cartoonish or realistic,dark to bright
it just depends on what you do and what you do alone,besides,hundreds are putting crap all over this site,and people are loving it(to me,that is proof that art style does not matter a whole lot)
