Description
It has been many years since I’ve seen my Homeland, the Deep swamps that support the largest of the Dryad trees. but I can still picture it so when I came across this small painting Tucked away for in the back of a Trader’s cart. I felt that it was the perfect time to write of a place I saw only as a child before the the years finally take the memories from me.It is common knowledge that Unicorns and their Dryads share a bond unlike any of the other high races. unicorns are really found from far from their home tree and rarely do dryads grow to their full size without the Unicorn family that take care of them. Forming and trimming their branches into the homes that they passed down from generation to generation. One tree can have many generations and many branch families and these families normally consider the Dryad almost as a head of the family. though thoses that can truly speak to Dryads are all but gone. As those that can speak the old tongue are rare it being lost with most written language. But so deep is the connection between dryads and they’re unicorns that even without words unicorns will still know what the dryad wishes; protecting the tree from pests, making so that they grow right and giving the right fertilizer. In return unicorns get protection, food and a deep Mental connection that makes it so no matter how far away they are from their family They can always be a feel the warmth of home.
In the old stories and myths, this connection did more than just make one feel that warm but could be used as a way to communicate but like the ability to talk to The Dryads this ability has been lost. but does not mean that this ability is not powerful since knowing you’re loved, knowing home. No matter how dark and horrible the place your trapped in is, is a wonderful thing.
It’s something I remember with a bittersweet pain now as it have been many years since I’ve felt it.
