Description There's that sound upon my window, the one I've come to fear
Making crystal pictures shimmer, disturbing all that's clear
They say its angels weeping, (that) they're crying overhead
I think it's much more mortal, someone wishing they were dead

Those summer showers on steaming days, where the sun still shines
Play upon my memory as if I've lost my mind
You'd think that water cleanses as it takes away the dirt
But I think about you wordlessly, remembering the hurt

So many ways the rains can fall
Like the moods they bring
Each one tugging differently
On a different string
Don't have to cascade gently
Don't have to make no sound
Don't have to be no downpour
To make me feel I've drowned

No waxing sentimental while the drizzle starts to flow
No feigning crass indifference when the storm begins to blow
You sundered my foundations and then laid my person bare
Nothing wrong with hiding inside when you see what love has shared

So many ways the rains can fall
Like the moods they bring
Each one tugging differently
On a different string
Don't have to cascade gently
Don't have to make no sound
Don't have to be no downpour
To make me feel I've drowned

(God... keep me from going under this final time around)
