Homunculus Pumpkins.
A magically created artificial species of squash originally created by a wizard who wanted an unlimited source of guilt-free slave labor. While growing, homunculus pumpkins are indistinguishable from ordinary pumpkins. Their anomalous power comes into effect whenever one of them has facial features carved into it by a sentient being.
The homunculus pumpkin will rapidly sprout a rudimentary body composed of intertwined vines, leaves and roots and magically animate. A newly created homunculus pumpkin possesses all skills, knowledge and memories that its creator did at the time they carved it but lacks other aspects of their personality such as free will, in effect being a mindlessly obedient drone. Typically creators will order their newly created homunculus pumpkins to forget whatever information they'd prefer to keep private and only follow or at least to prioritize their commands.
When a homunculus pumpkin is carved by a non-sentient being such as a preexisting homunculus pumpkin or robot , the result lacks imprinted skills but possesses self-awareness and free will . This can be quite dangerous as the newly created independent homunculus pumpkin is mentally entirely inhuman and can rapidly carve a horde of duplicates indistinguishable from their irreplaceable sentient progenitor but imprinted with total loyalty toward it.
This sculpture consists of two components, a clay head and a body composed of interwoven scraps of wire soldered together. This picture shows a front view of the entire sculpture.
