Over the course of having this account I've gone from a mealy college student to a professional character artist for games. I have never been as good at 2d as I am at 3d, so I've poured all my skill points into 3d. lol But as a result I don't draw in 2d as well as I'd like. I started making maquettes of my characters as ref. I wanted to grow my 2d skills so they'd become as good as my 3d skills.

Unfortunately, that's not going to happen and I've accepted that.

In this capitalist hellscape there's no way I have time to actively hold a job that pays bills and perform the necessary studying and stress to get better at 2d. But I want to tell my story so BAD. My solution was to do extremely detailed 3d models of my characters and trace them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ They're nekkid as a jaybird and bald, so all hair, clothing, ect gets drawn by hand. So long as I have the bare bones I can do that with no problem. It's perspective I struggle with. My mind works in 3d space, I can't seem to translate it to 2d with my hand. I used to feel like I'd be cheating by doing this. But I'm 42 years old lmao. I don't care any more. I just want to tell my story and draw my hot robot dudes.
