Description
Follow-up to this: www.deviantart.com/art/Matilda…The latest in my series of My favorite B-K/Rare Universe's OC's fashion expose', is a collection of costumes that I never made for either of my DA accounts, past or present, as they are intended for a game that took me that long to even discover existed: Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge. (You may or may not have heard of it, but to sum it up, it's a B-K game that was released for the Gameboy Advance, and the story takes place between the events of B-K and Tooie; A mid-quel, if you will. But rather than spoil the storyline for you, why not just go google, research, (I use Wikipedia and YouTube playthroughs, mostly) buy and freakin' play the game yourself, already? lol)
..Having said that, I WILL however, tell you a bit about each of the worlds within it (there aren't many, only 5) as I almost have to in order for what's on display to make sense:
Cliff Farm: The lovely Matilda's first costume for this adventure is a simple farm dress: A blue denim jumper with pockets with picture of farm animals on them, with a knee-length white underdress with puffy sleeves, a reference to Dorothy Gale from the Wizard Of Oz, complete with her hair even in pigtails adorned with pretty bows. He self-defense weapon is a hayfork, as you see here.
Breegull Beach: While this outfit can hardly be called breegull-like, it is nonetheless a fitting one for a beach world; That of a hula dancer theme, including a long swighy grass skirt, a flower in her hair and also flower adorning her arms and legs. Mattie's chosen weapon against baddies is a wild "pet" crab that she just randomly plucked out of the sand, who is ready to snap his pincers in the direction of anyone who approaches them (And woe bedide the unfortunate enemy whose nipple he decides to attach himself to!)
Bad Magic Bayou: This is the first transformation in the adventure that actually requires modifying Matilda's actual body as well as her clothes - She becomes a literal living voodoo doll, with stitches holding her body together, as well as with buttons for pupils! And that's not all.. See those long needles/pins sticking out of that rose-and-fishnet-veil hair accessory? Those are her weapons for this world, but not in a conventional sense: Being a voodoo doll, the only way for Mattie to inflict damage on a foe is to stick herself with one of those deadly pins, which will instantly kill the enemy. The downside to this method is that Mattie suffers damage herself, although not as much as the foe, who just dies instantly. The upside is that all baddies that are killed with this method will always leave behind a honeycomb every single time, as opposed to just half the time using regular methods
As for the clothes, she wears a dress with a theme that is hard to describe, but has a definite "Dia De Los Muertos" ("Day Of The Dead") feel about it, with the whole red and black and fisnet accesories, as well as elements inspired by Mamane Brigitte (a figure in Haitian mythology, worshiped as a goddess of death and the wife of Baron Samedi)
Spiller's Harbor: While not quite as interesting or body-altering as Mattie's previous world form, this one still has a personality of its own nonetheless: She has taken on the role of a scullery maid/washerwoman-type thing, clad in a simple dress with a black corset, and apron and boots, as well as a bandana to attempt to make her feel more sailor-like. Her weapon for this world is a mop, which can be used to permanently "mop" up those pesky Germuloid badguys.
(Also, this world isn't the first one where Mattie has had to use a mop as a weapon, nor will it be the last..)
Freezing Furnace: Wrapping up this fashion show with the game's final world, this time Matilda's costume is that of... a golem. (Or golemess, if you please) A rock golem, to be specific. That's right, this is the second and last world in the game that alters both Matilda's body and clothing, all of which (including her hair, and even her eyes) are all made of rock. While by no means the most speedy of her forms thus far, her abilities include 1., super-strength, the only weapon she'll ever need in this world; And 2., invulnerability to both the frigid cold of the polar exterior or the blistering heat of the interior, of the level. Not much else to say, really..
..As for her part in the storyline? Well, the way I figure it, Just as Matilda secretly followed the Bear-and-Bird duo at a distance throughout the first game for her own agenda, such is once again the case here, as she secretly follows Banjo, Grunty, and the captured Kazooie back in time, once again with her own ulterior motive, in which she hoped to find her infant self of the past and rescue her (self) from being stolen from her mother Brentilda and raised by her evil aunt Gruntilda! Alas, Matty discovers too late that she has not even been born yet, and unable to find her mother in that timeline (or her father, whom she'd also hoped to learn the identity of), Matty must return with the heroes to the present with her own life history unchanged.
Such isn't the last time Matilda's life will be met with disappointment and hardship..
