Description
I groaned as I woke up on the cold ground. Almost every part of my body felt sore and then suddenly, the past events flashed through my head. Quickly I looked at my surroundings and saw that I was in a cave-like room with a lit fire in the center. Right when I was about to walk closer to the fire the ground started shaking. Big boy is coming, I thought as I was ready to run as fast as I could. Once he entered the "room" I hid in the shadows of the room before he could look my way. I studied his reaction as he noticed that I wasn’t where he put me. He had an expression of surprise mixed with concern in his eyes, probably because his meal is missing, I thought.“Little girl please come out” he pleaded, I silently snorted, “I’m sorry that I scared you and your friends at the beach but I was curious. I-I never saw people like you……err my name is Andrew by the way.”
Why not Percy hates me anyway and both by adoptive parents are dead so what can I lose, I thought as I stepped out of the shadows. He saw me right away and slowly lowered himself down onto his stomach and rested his head on his arms. His green eyes glinted in the firelight as he just stared at me. I stood strong and my face showed no fear though on the inside I was already crying. It was so quiet except for the crackling of the fire.
Finally I couldn’t take it anymore and shouted at him “What are you looking at?”
Immediately after I said that I gasped and covered my mouth. He too was shocked but then he started to laugh. I went back to the shadows so that he couldn’t see me anymore. Never have I done that to a guy, even if he was sweet or an ignorant jerk. He noticed my absence and stopped laughing. He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck and said, “Sorry about that. It’s just that the way you guys acted on the beach is the exact opposite of what you are doing right now.”
“That’s because they have something to lose while I don’t.” I simply stated as leaned against the wall.
“………what do you mean by that?”
“My parents are dead or at least my foster parents are, and I don’t want to be placed in another strange home.”
“Err sorry to hear that. Uh do you want something to eat? I got plenty of food to share.” He was trying to change the subject I guess to make it less uncomfortable.
I sighed, “Sure I guess.”
I excited the corner to where he could easily see me. While doing this though, I kept my hand on my dagger charm in case he did any funny business. Slowly he sat on his legs towering over me now and then placed his hand in front of me palm up. I climbed in not caring anymore if he was going to hurt me or not.
“By the way you didn’t tell me your name.” he said while walking towards a table.
“It’s Hanna. Just Hanna.”
