The first pass shows the final version (textured and lit), the second pass is the geometry (to show deformation), and the final pass shows the rig and controls.

This is one of the more unique creatures in our mod - it can inflate itself with buoyant gas (probably hydrogen), and float into the air. It attacks by rapidly deflating and impaling its prey with the spine on its tail (I'm working on animating this right now). This was a fun creature to rig - the inflation was defined by a blend shape, and I also made the controls adapt dynamically to the creature's expanding dimensions. This animation was a test of the rig, and an exercise to flesh out the creature's movement and personality. The creature was modeled a textured by Merritt Filban . The concept was created by Tony Pizek.
