So normally I don’t dive into these sort of meme pics like this…but I feel I kinda owe it to this movie since I did make fun of it

So earlier on in 2019, Paramont released a trailer for a Sonic The Hedgehog movie and the design for the speedy blue hedgehog was…yikes
So instead of taking inspiration from that Detective Pikachu film where they captured the electric rodent’s design to match the games perfectly and the only difference was he was fluffier and voiced by Deadpool, they decided to take inspiration from the Garfield movies that I’m sure most of us have forgotten about and have a character knee-deep into the uncanny valley. Well ok, I don’t think this was specifically based on that film however my point is that this seems to be a repeated mistake of not knowing that we want cartoon characters to look like cartoon characters, not creepy abominations. This lead to the internet mocking it and various animators showing how they can do better than a million dollar film

So you remember back when the trailer for that Emoji Movie came out, everyone hated it, nothing about the film was changed and the final movie was just as awful a movie everyone predicted if not worse? Well Paramount decided to not repeat that film's mistake, after seeing this criticism they announced the film’s release date will be pushed back so they can fix the design. Fast forward to several months later a second trailer came out and...well I’ll be dammed, they got it right
So now Sonic actually looks like Sonic, just with added quill detailing and fluffiness, also a slight divide in his eye that doesn’t upset anything

So now it looks like this film will likely no longer destined for ‘worst film of all time’ lists like a lot of video game movies and instead be something to look forward to. Even if the film itself doesn’t end up too special, history can forever look back on its production and see that effort was put into it with this massive improvement
