Description With my backlog of pics starting to run dry, I thought I'd use some images that I didn't initially plan to upload. If you follow my history of FATIM 2 pics you may notice I had pics of alot of enemies and characters but not of The Fox himself despite being a major (if not the most important) part of the thing even having his entire lore written out but with no design to match. Initially the idea was just to reuse "Monster Flick" from FATIM 1, but that didn't feel right as other returning enemies were getting redesigns so it would be odd for Monster Flick to stay the same.

Following in the footsteps of Dark Revival, with the ink demon getting a much more skeletal look, I did the same with Monster Flick. For the sake of simplicity by the way I gave these designs nicknames just for this bio. "Spikes" was the first initial idea keeping the design mostly the same with more exaggerated teeth, but I didn't like it so it would later evolve into "Bones" basing the face off of wolf and fox skulls. Originally this was the route I was going with (hence why it has a body) and I even have some unfished pics and comic projects using this design. However, what made me change my mind was actually my lore. Theodore Boyd (who is the serial killer that becomes The Fox) is a much more deranged, manic, and expressive individual then the entity that took the mantle in FATIM 1, and the design's limited expressive possibilities would really not accommodate Boyd's more animated mannerisms.

Still trying to hold that ink demon tie, I struggled to rack my brain around a design that fit with the original Monster Flick template while still being more expressive, so I decided to not be so dead set on tethering my design ideas to dark revival and throw new things at the wall, with the biggest change "eyes". Just trying to slap eyes on Bones didn't really look good so I started experimenting with different heads and eventually got to "Crazy Eyes" which while I initially liked it, it didn't scream "big bad" to me and more so a common enemy, plus the pupils sitting in the inky void that was his face still didn't let them do much but stare. At this point I was literally thinking of completely different ideas to just come up with something, it wasn't until I was on one of my daily walks listening to a youtube mix that "Outrun this Cat" by Mautzi started playing which of course made me think of Cartoon Cat and reminded me of David Near's amazing voice for Cartoon Cat that was pretty close to the vibe I wanted to go with for Boyd, so I used Cartoon Cat as the new base instead of the Ink Demon (listening to quite a few cartoon cat fan songs to get me in the mood) and that is how we wound up with "Cartoon" or the current version of The Fox, forgoing the skeletal and humanoid look and going all in on the demented toon angle.

I hope you found this interesting or at least enjoy the pic!
