Description
The only world Jiang Lihua ever knew was made up of the courtyards and gardens enclosed by walls. The cruel irony of her life as Tianzi was that she was a prisoner in her own palace, forbidden to leave the Forbidden City.

Li Xingke would at times brings her flowers that don't grow in the palace grounds, to remind her of his promise that someday he'll be able to show her the rest of the outside world.

Notes:
The inspiration for this shot was traditional Chinese paintings, such as [link] and [link] - the white negative space, vivid colors on the subject, accompanied by an overall soft, misty atmosphere. It seemed appropriate, given that we took pictures after a gentle sunshower and there was a light mist over the vast green landscape we were on.

Ysabel and Rick are so convincing that I felt that I was actually seeing Tianzi and Xingke walking around the grounds of the Forbidden City together - a momentary escape from all the political conflict. I know they look positioned rather far, but my intention was to showcase both the characters and the scenery. And as opposed to a simple cosplay portrait, I was hoping to give off the feeling of a movie screenshot. I must say, this resolution to capture people when they're not just motionlessly posing is proving to be a challenge for me.
