Description
Built for the Heart of Gold, Marvin was designed to be the ship’s butler. But because he’s one of the failed Genuine People Personality prototypes, all he ever feels is depression and boredom due to having 50000 times the intelligence, which he complains about as “brain a size of a planet”. Because of this, the crew of the Heart of Gold gave him some mundane tasks and was irritated at his demeanor at times. Despite that, he had be proven useful at times: In the books, he disabled a police car, stopped a Frogstar tank bot, etc.

Somewhere later, he was badly damaged and when he saw God’s final message, “We apologize for the inconvenience”, for the first time in his life, he felt good. It’s all I know; I haven’t gotten around to the later books yet.

His design was based around two of the adaptations, and the point of this design is with the sense of irony, as I assume it should be. While being a happy looking robot on the outside, the personality chips built within him was faulty to make him feel the opposite. Thus, making feel depressed all the time.
