NEW: I NOW CREATE MUSIC, JOIN ME ON SOUNDCLOUD!SHOP: www.icanvas.com/canvas-art-prints/artist/ben-heine
Absolutely purrfect!
Eight playful little cuties I found in a street of Lisbon, Portugal.
(If you wish, you can view 2 details at this link )
Note: Many people tell me that, like in some of my other pics,
this image looks like a "pencil drawing". It is a photo, though.
The truth is that I always spend some time to edit my photos
to get a nice balance of details and different gray tones... It's
just more work for better results.
Prints of the above artwork now available!
Also purchase a bigger jpg version to have it as a wallpaper.

By the artist's comment, it seems it is a photo. I thought it was a pencil drawing at first, too

This is a really great photograph, at first I though it was the same cat but looking closer I can see that they are all different, very well done

Shouldn't this go in the photomanipulation category?
Because this isn't purely a photograph.
Those markings are genetically impossible.

It doesn't help that "editing the grey tones" keeps coming up as a response to this question. I think manipulating and replicating main components of a photo over and over makes it a manipulation, not a true photograph. Why does the artist not just change the category instead of being so cagey and evasive with the cut and paste response?

This is a fantastic shot! I had to look at it for a couple minutes because I was SURE it had to be a drawing.. Something about the black and white and the cats' stripes combined with the sheer odds of getting a picture like this made it so comical, I couldn't believe it was real.
Love it!

At first, I honestly thought this was a drawing. But that fact that itβs a photograph makes it all the more interesting to me! I love the cats! They give the picture a playful feel. However, the black and white somehow gives it a creepy undertone. Also, the layout is really interesting (as in, where the cats are placed). With any other subject, it probably wouldnβt have looked as good as yours. You definitely made it work! Also, the catsβ stripes are really interesting, especially at the heads.
In all, at first glance, itβs rather eerie. When you take a closer look to really appreciate the piece, you feel the playfulness and cuteness of it. My eyes traveled nicely throughout the piece and there was nice flow. Itβs mellow and calm, but at a closer look, the cats make it more exciting.
I hope this is what you were looking for in feedback. I loved the piece!

As already mentioned, the patterns are strangeβ¦Β even stranger is the perspective (it feels like there are several different perspectives), the shadows and some other tiny details.
If you had said this was a photo-collage or manipulation, i would think of it as a rather nice image.
But i have my doubts if this motive has been in front of your lens β recently, in a street of lisbon, portugalβ¦
Apart from my thoughts about that, i really like this image. Some of your best in the last monthsβ¦Β maybe i would buy a print as a gift for some special friend of mine

I don't deny editing the pic strongly, I always do. There are 2 main perspectives, one from above and one from below

I just noticed that you changed the description-text β¦Β that makes it much better for me since i see a difference between a photo one took somewhere and a result of an array of photos that have been taken. i just like knowing about.
editing photos is absolutely okay for me. But, how many single photographies did you actually use to build this picture?

Whoa O.O It's really a photo? It looks like a pencil drawing. But my guess is the markings ARE photoshoped. They're too regular and simetrical to be true but very beautiful. The concept itself of composing a few simillar pictures like this was amazing. I'm very impressed by this. It's an admirable work worthy of DD.

first: great photo!
and second: this looks like the drawing to me. if you say it is photograph then I believe you but this cats have unbelievably strange stripes pattern on their fur.. or it is just one cat pictured in eight different position but something is changed about this stripes- because expression on face and proportion of the head is (I think) same.. I don't know why, but this is very strange to me.. I've seen about hundred cats in my life and none of them had fur pattern like this cats have... and now this is bothering me, because I can not believe with my eyes that cats can have such symmetric and correct pattern of stripes on their fur. It looks to me like stripes are measured and then "pasted"on them..
please do not consider this comment like that I'm making some critique of your work, or trying to say it is not good, or something like that (I can't express my thoughts very well on English but I hope you'll understand what I'm trying to say). I'm just very curious about this piece of art

It would be boring if these cats would look like the thousands of cats you saw previously, wouldn't it?
