Description Massive Black workshop demo from Fri, some sort of live action take on PATLABOR 1/2, one of my favorite animes...... can't go wrong with old Mamoru Oshii!

3D blockout in ZBrush + Photoshop paintover. Keen to do a few more shots if i get time, take more time planning/modelling/finishing than i had time to in the demo, would have liked to group all the pieces on the model to get better base material render out of Keyshot to paintover in PS instead of just all grey that i started with here. Everything came down to the wire and ran out of time but was fun stuff regardless, glad everyone had a good time, will figure out a way to get the files to everyone that attended the workshop. Look forward to the next one!

Finally got around to uploading the layered file, the DL link can be found in the store section of my site. Enjoy!

Okay loved the image from the start..then zoomed in and was looking at the details..then the No Step Placards made me chuckle... You see them all over some vehicles...but they are not often seen on artwork ... lets face it... if a tech can put his foot in a location where it really shouldn't be he will...and someone will have to stencil NO STEP there after a tech manages to fold spindle or mutilate a piece that needs to work right, or mor elikely fold spindle or mutilate his own person in some way.

They have actually built a full scale Patlabor for a live action film: tomodachi.us/2013/08/16/first-…

This must happen. It must become real. If they ever make a live action movie of this anime that I now need to find, I nominate you as head designer.

As I was sitting here admiring it and wondering if you'd done a 3d paintover (before reading the artist comments and finding out that you had ) my 8yo came along and asked if that was real.  I said no you'd done it in 3d and then painted it in Photoshop.  His response was "That is SO EPIC."  Very impressed that you did this in a rush, can't get this good in several months XD
