Very interesting and original picture here. This depiction of a gladiator fighting against a "Scorpion King" stands out in a few ways.

Firstly, it has a kind of "atmosphere" to it, as in if seeing it through faint fog. This has an effect on the background, and also on the two fighters. It also makes the light seem more intense.

Which brings me up to the next point. The lighting. Very effective use of light and shadow, and very convincing. Makes me feel like I've got a ringside seat, as it where.

The background, while common, still stands out with the eerie maze of upright trees, that in some cases are nearly naked. In a way the trees suggest bars, perhaps suggesting that the two are "locked" into combat?

And the movement. The gladiator just dodged a stab of the Scorpion King's tail. And given how the ground's being impacted, that tail isn't a limp noodle or anything. Nice.

I also like the details on them...the armor and weapons, and evne the face of the Scorpion King (are those arachnid mandibles covering his lower face? Or is he wearing a "Bobba-Fett" type t-slot helmet?

All in all, very good painting!
