What happened to poor Layla? Was she stood up for her date? Did she break up with her boyfriend? Who knows, but the poor girl is sad for some reason, must have been a frustrating day, she kicked off her heels and sat down in the street to cry.

I'm still learning, this one has post work on it, I was really struggling with getting the feet to appear correctly against the ground, the lighting in the render caused it to look too flat. I used a layer to draw in some shadows around them, to provide some depth. I also added some extra shadow behind her on the step, under her on the stair and a little around the heels. All in all I was pretty happy with how this turned out.

This uses one of my original character designs, using the extensive DAZ character gene pool, her name is Layla, and is a character in a story I'm writing for a visual novel. This scene was created by following a tutorial series from Dreamlight, who has a very good tutorial series on the DAZ Store for his 8 point lighting. He's very good at describing lighting and how to create tone and mood as well as other aspects that lighting can do. I think lighting is one of the biggest aspects in 3D rendering, and is one of the toughest things to understand and master, so I've been looking for comprehensive tutorials on the matter. I've even searched for photography lighting lessons on youtube which are good, but my brain has a hard time translating that to Daz3d, which is why I was happy to pay for the product by Dreamlight and was very pleased with the result.
