Description Previous /Next

He's a doctor. He's here to help! or are you scared of doctors, Purplesmart?

----------------------------

So there you have it; The next update made by photoshop Cs6 in its trial version, which I hope to register within the month. the biggest frustration I had was trying to get used to the brushes and shading all over again. If anyone has pointers on how to make the characters not look quite as flat, then please, please let me know. I don't want to sit in the dark and make sub-par artistry for the rest of my days, kay?

Draw circles. Align everything around those circles. Eyes, hips, legs, wings, walk cycles, they all conform to curves and ellipses, not straight lines, nor flat planes.

Not to say flat planes are useless. Draw a box that would fit around your character, then use the box to tell where to put what. Positions of feet, head, how big to make the nearer stuff, how small to make the farther stuff. It's the difference in size between the front face of the box and the back face of the box.

Pay very, very close attention to line weight. Thick lines can give the illusion of depth, making things look more bent, squashed or smooshy. In real life, sharp curves change shade quickly, and drawing thick lines there, and thin lines where outlines are indistinct or smooth can have the same effect. Don't be afraid to omit outlines entirely.

and never lose your joyful expression, even if it looks "terrible" and "lazy".
