Description
A creature that captures people as hosts. The worm is an ambush predator, hiding out of sight and able to squeeze into very tight spaces to surprise it's victims. The worm has 2-8 tendrils on it's back made of bandage, tape, or straps that it uses to cocoon it's victim. Once the victim is wrapped, they are placed within the worm for storage, the inside is smooth, soft, and dry, akin to the texture of satin silk. The worm will gather several victims before going back to it's nest to store it's catch.
While inside the worm, the bindings will fuse into a seamless cocoon that is still breathable for the victim within, the victim will also be lulled into a sleep while a transformation process is begun. A worm's nest is usually an isolated room where it's prey are kept and incubate. After several days or weeks, the cocoon will start to change color and bulge as the new body of the worm forms, a few day after that, the cocoon will tear and a new worm will emerge.
For the hosts, they loose access to their arms and are kept in a dream like state if they aren't compliant with the worm's goals. But some hosts have a lot of autonomy and are in sync with the worm bonded to them. These hosts are the most successful in making more worms, it has been observed that jacket worms function in small groups, pooling their catches in one place, and hunting together. The process is reversible and can be interrupted. Jacket worms are pretty much proofed against physical damage, but they will still avoid fighting no matter what, abandoning their catch if startled. A host can become de-bonded with a simple spell, but that requires the worm to be still for a period of time.

As to where these creatures came from, they dwell within the old facilities deep inside the Creeping Woods, the long abandoned place where Nightswift came from has opened recently...

Made a little something for Halloween coming up. This idea isn't new, but I wanted to put my own little spin on it.
