Description
I decided to have a little fun, I didn’t feel like drawing a Knight or Samurai or whatever like that, I decided to just have some fun and draw a Jester, inspired by the Bogey from MGE and Deterex525. I really like the outcome, and as well as this, I’ve pretty much written my own bit of lore from my own little Fantasy setting, inspired a bit by MGE, but darker with Lovecraftian Gods. Might upload it here later.

Summary
Bogey Jesters are zany, eccentric Demi-Human monsters who look and act like Clowns and Jesters. They are expert entertainers, highly proficient in comedy, acrobatics, music, tricks etc, but are also intentionally and unintentionally unnerving, as they find it highly enjoyable to see someone’s unnerved or even terrified yet also entranced reaction to them.

Description
Bogey Jesters are a kind of Demi-Human, and in terms of physical appearance are very tall and slightly imposing, being at least six foot tall and often being in the higher range with not a few being seven plus foot tall. They possess horns that are bent and curved backwards like Jester’s caps, and often have very long hair, which is often coloured in different ways, with pointed, elf-like ears, and have very large, glove like hands with almost blood-like dark energy dripping off their fingertips.

As born Jesters, their appearance and skin reflects this, as their skin is coloured in a variety of ways as if they’ve been full body painted, be it porcelain white or night black, and often have face paint like markings on their face from birth, though they are able to change their appearance through their magic. They dress in a variety of Jesterly garb which they treat practically like a second skin, be it big puffy sleeves, skintight or puffed up and spacious trousers, comical pointed shoes, ruffled collars etc. With a large variety of colours and patterns, though they dislike random colours and prefer a colour scheme, and, due to their cheeky nature, like to keep certain parts of the body exposed.

An often unnerving part of the Bogey Jesters are their fangs, Bogey Jesters like Vampires have fangs which they use to suck the blood from people. This could link something of a connection between the two races in terms of their origins. However, the difference between Bogey Jesters and Vampires is that Bogey Jesters don’t need to constantly drink blood to live, a Bogey Jester only needs to drink blood every several weeks and eats food like any normal creature, and will only start facing serious health effects when they haven’t drank it in at least two months, while Vampires need to drink blood at least weekly, lest they become more and more animalistic and begin to wither and eventually die. This doesn’t mean that Bogey Jesters don’t like blood as much as Vampires, they love blood as much as any Vampire, and despite not needing to drink it as regularly, many do, simply because they love the taste, and the fact they frighten and unnerve people when they show them off is also a bonus for them.

Personality
Bogey Jesters are often eccentric and zany creatures, though they can be quite random, and can be surprisingly calm and subtle, taking little seriously and taking to life in a very jovial and jokey way, seeing the world as the mightiest stage, and as a stage, is a world of entertainment. They are willing to make light of nearly anything, and often act as needed levity in hard times. They also have a reputation for being expert silver tongued seductresses, dragging off both terrified yet utterly entranced boys and girls, often being shyer and more introverted and whom the Bogey Jesters consider could use some company, and some more ‘private entertainment’, for both the pure fun of it, and to give them something to brag about.

However, despite their expert ability as entertainers, are also intentionally unnerving monsters. Their seemingly endless smile and happy expressions, their impressive height, their colourful clothing and face paint, their exaggerated actions and eccentric personalities as well as seemingly magical ability to almost target people to unnerve them, and this is all intentional. Bogey Jesters love to unnerve people and make them slightly terrified of them, owing to their previous sadism before the Great Transformation.

History

What made the Bogey Jesters different to other monsters, wherein while they were animalistic the label of evil doesn’t apply, as they’re simply just beasts, many Bogey Jesters were intentionally sadistic, cruel and evil creatures with a sick, twisted and perverted sense of humour. They’d play sick games and torture innocent humans, and hunt humans to drink their blood and devour their flesh.

An infamous practice of many Bogey Jesters, was the kidnapping and stealing of children and babies to hold them hostage, so that they could get the parent to do whatever they wanted for them, be it murder, humiliation, regular supply of blood or even, and commonly, sex and sexual activities with the Bogey Jesters. However, a strange oddity of the cruelty and sadism of the Bogey Jesters, was that it never extended to children, teenagers possibly but never children. They’d be see playing harmless pranks on children, performing tricks, both physical and magical, telling jokes and genuinely just playing with them, even being very motherly and paternal towards children. However, this didn’t mean that they’d hold any sympathy for them as adults, once they officially became an adult, a Bogey Jester, while less likely to skin them alive, will still torture and kill them, just a bit more ‘gently’, maybe they’ll only use them for blood and sex, but once they make that switch, a Bogey Jester rarely spared the now grown up children.

However, despite all this, Bogey Jesters, like today, were probably the most unpredictable of the monster species. While most, if not all held sadistic tendencies, they could be said to be one of the most individualistic of the monster races, or possibly the most random. Some would have no trouble killing a man, but would utterly courteous and charming in the presence of a lady. Others would act like demons one day, then saints the next. Some acted like feral beasts, and others like refined courtiers. The most famous or infamous of the Bogey Jesters, Azdrubael, Slaughterer of Marason, Lieutenant of Mordraud, The Fool Of Hell and personal killer of hundreds of thousands of Order soldiers, is also the patron Saint of the Saint Azzy Children’s Hospital, wherein he’d entertain the children and protected them from a dragon, slaying the beast with it’s skull remaining in the children’s hospital to this day. Personally, he was a charming, unscrupulous gentlemen towards women and had a sense of personal honour, meaning he’d harm certain people and others he’d leave be, as long as they didn’t attempt to harm.

After the Great Transformation, turning all monsters into a type of Succubi, the Bogey Jesters were now given a roughly human morality, and, owing to their own efforts as well as that of the Demon Lord, which began to spring up these Monster Friendly States, were actually able to integrate into human society quicker then other monsters, wherein they began to ply their trade as expert entertainers.

Expert Entertainers
Bogey Jesters are expert comedians, fools, clowns and well, Jesters. Even as children they are able to get intentional laughter out of adults. They are exceptional jokesters, quick witted and silver tongued, excelling in several types of humour depending on their crowd, whether or not it’s light, slapstick, family friendly humour, or darker, edgier or riskier humour, they’ll be able to cater to near any crowd, though they are known to take joy in some more rude or even outright offensive humour, seeing it as comedy without boundaries.

Not only are they expert and flexible comedians, they’re also incredible acrobats and are impossibly swift, said to impress even the Elves with how when dancing they are said to flow like silk, and be lightning quick to stupefy their captivated audience, which along with their Succubus beauty and their often subtly suggestive gestures, they make many a wife elbow their husbands for looking a bit too intently upon the Jester’s form. Moreover, with this they’re able to perform a variety of impressive acrobatic tricks and take great joy in spooking people, by deftly sneaking up on them and scaring them.

They are expert musicians as well, being able to perform a great number of instruments and earn great reputations as bards. To top off this great list of born skills that makes them near peerless entertainers, they are also great actors and are able to perform a great many roles in plays, performing in plays depicting great historical events, mythological stories and original material given by playwrights.

Bogey Jesters are often as much nomadic as much as they are likely to stick around, often after they’ve found someone they particularly like. They travel around with Troupes, bands and travelling circus of other Bogey Jesters, and when they arrive they are a festival of all the Bogey Jesters have to offer, dances, music, acrobatics, tricks, comedy, plays etc, which often include the Bogey Jesters roping in people from the crowd to act as willing, or unwilling participants. And of course, they’re more then willing to do more, private performances, to those that are willing to pay, and those that the Bogey Jesters finds could use a little company, often the shyer and more introverted of people.

A Jester’s Magic
Complementing their expert abilities as Entertainers, is the Bogey Jester’s form of magic, which is unique practically just to them, with very few exceptions and is actually quite potent and even deadly if they wish to use it. They are able to easily create purple fireballs, with varying power and size and are able to create as many as twenty five, admittedly weaker fireballs at once, though these are still quite explosive, making them quite potent Fire Mages, and they of course perform tricks with these fireballs, like twirl them on sticks or juggle them, before them letting them all fall into their mouths before breathing a massive gout of purple flame.

They’re able to create brilliant shadow puppets, and these shadow puppets are then able to pick up objects or even interact with or grab people,. They’re able to reach into hats, and then pull out a great number of items and animals, and are even able to summon a hand to grab people out of the crowd, and out of their hat, as a little person. They’re able to literally summon an invisible wall, that they interact with and run into as slapstick humour, and many other magical abilities like suddenly turning into a group of bunnies, or popping off their head etc.

Bogey Jesters are also surprisingly adept at blood magic, owing as another potential link between Vampires and the Bogey Jesters. They are able to control and manipulate blood, meaning they can do things like create blood icicles and blood balls to throw at people, or even blood weapons like blood swords and spears, and the most powerful of Bogey Jesters are able to make blood walls and blood shields, and very few are even able to make primitive forms of blood armour, like a breastplate or simpler forms of armour.

What makes this different from the Vampiric Blood Magic, is that Bogey Jesters are good at making blood constructs, but they lack to ability to control unexposed blood. Basically Vampires are able to do things such as manipulate the blood inside someone to control them like marionettes on strings, this make include things like manipulating blood inside someone, living or dead, or make them walk about or move under their control, manipulating the blood inside someone’s arm or leg to make the blood burst out and rip them off, manipulating blood to make them flow out of someone’s mouth, or even outright make someone explode or picking them up and throwing them about. As well as even more extreme things, like blood portals.

Bogey Jesters are rarely good at the bodily form of blood magic, and most are only capable of extremely mild bodily blood magic, like yanking an arm or crudely controlling a hand. One thing that both are able to do, is cause blood to expand, meaning that they can cause a little bit of blood on the floor, to bubble and expand into a full pool of blood, which they are then able to manipulate to their own whims. If you wonder why they then don’t just drink this, doing this makes the blood so diluted and watered down that it just doesn’t nourish Vampires to any real degree, and tastes like nothing.

Jester Jobs
Bogey Jesters are most well known as Jesters and entertainers, be it street and travelling performers, circus performers, court jesters etc. As Court Jesters their job is to entertain the Court and the Royal family, but also serve as spymasters and voices of the people, meaning they communicate the concerns of the people to the court and king, serving not only as Court Jesters, but also as important members of the state. This gives them quite the bit of power, and they actually have a unique privilege as Court Jesters, as they can in the middle of court, openly joke about and criticise the King and Queen without getting punished for disrespect, and the monarch in question is actually obliged to take them, both as jokes but also take them seriously as criticisms.

They also take other jobs, including such things as shopkeeps, barbers, maids and playwrights, but one job that you wouldn’t expect them to take on is fighting roles, but they are actually quite well known to occasionally take on jobs as Bounty Hunters, and even bodyguards. Bogey Jesters are exceptionally agile, swift and acrobatic and this helps them in fighting, but they are also surprisingly strong, being able to lift up and hold someone up by the neck or by their collar, with surprisingly little effort, as well as being surprisingly tough, able to take blows that would kill a regular person, and take it all in jest.

Combine with this their magical ability, both as Fire Mages and their ability with Blood Magic, as well as their unique form of Jester magic, makes them very versatile and quite deadly fighters, and no few assassins, Knights or even Heroes, have been killed by underestimating the Bogey Jesters. And thus, combined with their role as Entertainers, also act as Bodyguards for Kings, Nobles, members of state, or other people who simply have money or if the Bogey Jester simply wants to.

The Jester’s Quarry
Bogey Jesters have a keen interest in people they consider to be, ‘good boys’, and these ‘good boys’ are often shy, introverted, lonely but good natured lads and also lad-ettes, and the Bogey Jesters consider these people to be absolutely adorable, as well as very entertaining, due to the unnerved yet also simultaneously intrigued reactions they give to them. They feel these lonely individuals could use a friend, a tall, beautiful, silver tongued friend.

They’ll constantly seek to visit and seek these individuals, as they wish to provide them with some company, often making more subtle, explicit or suggestive jokes and gestures towards them, using their expert ability to read people to know what boundaries they shouldn’t push too hard, and use their silver tongues in order to seduce their target. The individual they’re seducing will often be feeling a mix of confusing emotions, they’ll be unnerved but also intrigued, and despite their fear of their new friend, they also feel strangely safe and want to be with her, almost as if the Bogey Jester has become a bizarrely motherly figure.

When the Jester leaves their side they’ll quickly wish to see them again, and they’ll meet more and more, and will quickly grow beyond a simple friendship as they’ll finally visit them at their home, and all of their suggestive jokes and gestures, will finally be acted upon. After they’ve finally consummated their relationship, and if the Bogey Jester has chosen them as their partner, they’ll become their loving, if teasing, spouse, and will use their ability as entertainers to please their beloved ‘good boy’ every day, becoming their tall, beautiful Jester and use their talents to provide income for the two, as actors, musicians, acrobats and comedians. When settling down with someone they like, they are known to change, they become calmer and more suitable as proper spouses. Some see what Bogey Jesters do as manipulation, and this could be true, however, Bogey Jesters for whatever reason, seem to have a strange ‘purity’ about them, and are far less likely to ever betray or abuse their new lover for their own ends, and are far more pure in their motivations to please and love their new beloved, then other people or monsters.

But of course, with ‘good boys’ there must of course be the ‘bad boys’, the rude, disrespectful, unpleasant, nasty, entitled, spoilt and lazy children of the world. And Bogey Jesters also have a keen interest in these people, not as something to be loved, at least not initially, but as something to be ‘fixed’, to be ‘corrected’ and be ‘disciplined’. They’ll target these people and use their unnerving aspects and strange ability to almost target-ly unnerve and terrify, to playfully correct a ‘bad boy’ behaviour, becoming both a domineering and terrifying presence and something of a teacher

Their target, like the ‘good boys’, will be both utterly terrified, yet also entranced by the Bogey Jester, and while they’ll initially resist, will gradually begin to change their behaviour, especially if the Bogey Jester is nearby. They’ll become kinder and more and more polite, and as the Bogey Jester see’s this they’ll also reward the individual, be it a physical reward, like money or food, or a far more physical reward. Over the course of how ever many days, they’ll have reformed the ‘bad boy’ into a ‘good boy’, and either then leave, or seek to be their spouse from now on.

Of course this doesn’t work with all, once they are an adult it’s hard to change them and some are far too stubborn or narcissistic to change. A famous or infamous King of a now fanatically Anti-Monster State, used to, in his youth, have a Bogey Jester ‘friend’. The Bogey Jester considered the Prince to be a ‘bad boy’, and sought to change him, in order to be a better king and potentially turn this mostly Anti-Monster State into a Monster Friendly one. Unfortunately for the Bogey Jester, this Prince was considered quite infamous, and was known as ‘Prince Narcissist’. The sheer thought that he wasn’t utterly perfect, was so insulting to the King that he imprisoned the Bogey Jester and tortured her over the course of six months. It also flipped the table on whether they’d become Monster Friendly, and the now King began a purge the likes of which had never been seen in the Kingdom.

They’re able to reach into hats, and then pull out a great number of items and animals, and are even able to summon a hand to grab people out of the crowd, and out of their hat, as a little person. They’re able to literally summon an invisible wall, that they interact with and run into as slapstick humour, and many other magical abilities like suddenly turning into a group of bunnies, or popping off their head etc.

Bogey Jesters are also surprisingly adept at blood magic, owing as another potential link between Vampires and the Bogey Jesters. They are able to control and manipulate blood, meaning they can do things like create blood icicles and blood balls to throw at people, or even blood weapons like blood swords and spears, and the most powerful of Bogey Jesters are able to make blood walls and blood shields, and very few are even able to make primitive forms of blood armour, like a breastplate or simpler forms of armour.

What makes this different from the Vampiric Blood Magic, is that Bogey Jesters are good at making blood constructs, but they lack to ability to control unexposed blood. Basically Vampires are able to do things such as manipulate the blood inside someone to control them like marionettes on strings, this make include things like manipulating blood inside someone, living or dead, or make them walk about or move under their control, manipulating the blood inside someone’s arm or leg to make the blood burst out and rip them off, manipulating blood to make them flow out of someone’s mouth, or even outright make someone explode or picking them up and throwing them about. As well as even more extreme things, like blood portals.

Bogey Jesters are rarely good at the bodily form of blood magic, and most are only capable of extremely mild bodily blood magic, like yanking an arm or crudely controlling a hand. One thing that both are able to do, is cause blood to expand, meaning that they can cause a little bit of blood on the floor, to bubble and expand into a full pool of blood, which they are then able to manipulate to their own whims. If you wonder why they then don’t just drink this, doing this makes the blood so diluted and watered down that it just doesn’t nourish Vampires to any real degree, and tastes like nothing.

Jester Jobs
Bogey Jesters are most well known as Jesters and entertainers, be it street and travelling performers, circus performers, court jesters etc. As Court Jesters their job is to entertain the Court and the Royal family, but also serve as spymasters and voices of the people, meaning they communicate the concerns of the people to the court and king, serving not only as Court Jesters, but also as important members of the state. This gives them quite the bit of power, and they actually have a unique privilege as Court Jesters, as they can in the middle of court, openly joke about and criticise the King and Queen without getting punished for disrespect, and the monarch in question is actually obliged to take them, both as jokes but also take them seriously as criticisms.

They also take other jobs, including such things as shopkeeps, barbers, maids and playwrights, but one job that you wouldn’t expect them to take on is fighting roles, but they are actually quite well known to occasionally take on jobs as Bounty Hunters, and even bodyguards. Bogey Jesters are exceptionally agile, swift and acrobatic and this helps them in fighting, but they are also surprisingly strong, being able to lift up and hold someone up by the neck or by their collar, with surprisingly little effort, as well as being surprisingly tough, able to take blows that would kill a regular person, and take it all in jest.

Combine with this their magical ability, both as Fire Mages and their ability with Blood Magic, as well as their unique form of Jester magic, makes them very versatile and quite deadly fighters, and no few assassins, Knights or even Heroes, have been killed by underestimating the Bogey Jesters. And thus, combined with their role as Entertainers, also act as Bodyguards for Kings, Nobles, members of state, or other people who simply have money or if the Bogey Jester simply wants to.

The Jester’s Quarry
Bogey Jesters have a keen interest in people they consider to be, ‘good boys’, and these ‘good boys’ are often shy, introverted, lonely but good natured lads and also lad-ettes, and the Bogey Jesters consider these people to be absolutely adorable, as well as very entertaining, due to the unnerved yet also simultaneously intrigued reactions they give to them. They feel these lonely individuals could use a friend, a tall, beautiful, silver tongued friend.

They’ll constantly seek to visit and seek these individuals, as they wish to provide them with some company, often making more subtle, explicit or suggestive jokes and gestures towards them, using their expert ability to read people to know what boundaries they shouldn’t push too hard, and use their silver tongues in order to seduce their target. The individual they’re seducing will often be feeling a mix of confusing emotions, they’ll be unnerved but also intrigued, and despite their fear of their new friend, they also feel strangely safe and want to be with her, almost as if the Bogey Jester has become a bizarrely motherly figure.

When the Jester leaves their side they’ll quickly wish to see them again, and they’ll meet more and more, and will quickly grow beyond a simple friendship as they’ll finally visit them at their home, and all of their suggestive jokes and gestures, will finally be acted upon. After they’ve finally consummated their relationship, and if the Bogey Jester has chosen them as their partner, they’ll become their loving, if teasing, spouse, and will use their ability as entertainers to please their beloved ‘good boy’ every day, becoming their tall, beautiful Jester and use their talents to provide income for the two, as actors, musicians, acrobats and comedians. When settling down with someone they like, they are known to change, they become calmer and more suitable as proper spouses. Some see what Bogey Jesters do as manipulation, and this could be true, however, Bogey Jesters for whatever reason, seem to have a strange ‘purity’ about them, and are far less likely to ever betray or abuse their new lover for their own ends, and are far more pure in their motivations to please and love their new beloved, then other people or monsters.

But of course, with ‘good boys’ there must of course be the ‘bad boys’, the rude, disrespectful, unpleasant, nasty, entitled, spoilt and lazy children of the world. And Bogey Jesters also have a keen interest in these people, not as something to be loved, at least not initially, but as something to be ‘fixed’, to be ‘corrected’ and be ‘disciplined’. They’ll target these people and use their unnerving aspects and strange ability to almost target-ly unnerve and terrify, to playfully correct a ‘bad boy’ behaviour, becoming both a domineering and terrifying presence and something of a teacher

Their target, like the ‘good boys’, will be both utterly terrified, yet also entranced by the Bogey Jester, and while they’ll initially resist, will gradually begin to change their behaviour, especially if the Bogey Jester is nearby. They’ll become kinder and more and more polite, and as the Bogey Jester see’s this they’ll also reward the individual, be it a physical reward, like money or food, or a far more physical reward. Over the course of how ever many days, they’ll have reformed the ‘bad boy’ into a ‘good boy’, and either then leave, or seek to be their spouse from now on.

Of course this doesn’t work with all, once they are an adult it’s hard to change them and some are far too stubborn or narcissistic to change. A famous or infamous King of a now fanatically Anti-Monster State, used to, in his youth, have a Bogey Jester ‘friend’. The Bogey Jester considered the Prince to be a ‘bad boy’, and sought to change him, in order to be a better king and potentially turn this mostly Anti-Monster State into a Monster Friendly one. Unfortunately for the Bogey Jester, this Prince was considered quite infamous, and was known as ‘Prince Narcissist’. The sheer thought that he wasn’t utterly perfect, was so insulting to the King that he imprisoned the Bogey Jester and tortured her over the course of six months. It also flipped the table on whether they’d become Monster Friendly, and the now King began a purge the likes of which had never been seen in the Kingdom.
