Description
This goes back a long ways (4 years), to a programming project of mine involving taking spheres and arbitrarily shaped objects and turning all the connections between vertices into springs and also creating internal springs and then disturbing the whole system. It wasn't actually the intent, but the result looks like a planet being struck by a weapon of enormous power, at least initially, things get strange in the later parts of the animation.

The simulation actually ran in about a hour and a half, these are time-lapse screen shots.

I'm impressed I was allowed to upload something this large, I was sure I was going to have to shrink the resolution and delete a few frames.

Eventually (though I also said that 4 years ago) I'll GPL the code and put it on sourceforge, though I need to find it first...
