Description
The idea behind this sketch was to go in without a plan and without an eraser. The only starting point was the idea of a stone arch roughly in the middle. Everything else came in surprisingly quickly afterwards. I still have no concrete story of what exactly is going on in the piece, but I do have ideas. A protagonist, who I intended to look a bit too short and skinny for the helmet he's wearing, if this is a "he". A destination in the distance, framed by the stone arch I started with. I added the dubious mystical figure behind the arch. The tent probably belongs to that character. There are also the remains of a camp fire next to the arch. I figured that while the castle is in sight, there is still some distance and possibly rough terrain, so the arch might be a popular site where people might have a last little rest and meal on the road. Also, as a little detail, there are birds in the distance but also bird skulls around the camp fire.
