Later that evening, Ranyx went to visit Jenex in the infirmary.

“You'd better not be the first casualty of this war,” Ranyx said, “That'd be embarrassing for all of us.”

“Get serious, Ranyx,” Jenex said, “I'm not going to die from an arrow to the foot.”

“You never know... it could get infected and they might have to cut your leg off.”

“Oh, shut up. That's what antibiotics are for.”

“Yeah, I'm just messing with you. So, why'd he shoot you, you say something to piss him off or something?”

“I have no idea! I was just standing there, checking my crossbow, and the next thing I know there's an arrow in my foot!”

“Well, I would stay away from him from now on if I were you, Jenex, 'cause Hezner told me that guy killed his own mother.”

“What? No, you must have heard wrong! Who would- Oh. You're joking again.”

“No! That's what he said, I swear!”

“Well, even if Hezner did say that, I don't believe it's true. I'm sure this was just an accident. Now if you don't mind, I need to get some rest. Good night, Ranyx.” Jenex reached over and turned off the lamp. “I'm serious, Jenex. Watch out for Xartak. I don't trust him,” Ranyx said as he left.
