WARNING: THIS TEXT CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR MY FANFIC, AS THIS IS SET BETWEEN 5 TO 10 CHAPTERS OF TVP INTO THE FUTURE. THIS IS A WRITING PRACTICE BUT I STILL CONSIDER THIS TO BE A CERTAIN EVENT THAT WILL UNDOUBTEBLY HAPPEN IN THE SERIES.THIS WRITING SPOILS A NEW CHARACTER, NEW INFO ABOUT THE FUTURE SETTING AND A MAJOR THING THAT WILL HAPPEN TO ONE OF THE CHARACTERS. READ AT YOUR OWN RISKAmmat gestured at the running pair, as Kaine's people quickly made their way through the crowd. He was already on board of the airship, and both Banserko and M'azzal could hear the roaring of the engines as the ship prepared to deploy into the vast ocean of the void. One of Kaine's men suddenly appeared from a side alley, being much closer to the duo than the rest of the pursuing group. However, he still remained too far behind them to deal out a strike with his sword.
The engines in the meanwhile were now completely warmed up, and the roaring indicated the ship was ready to take off. Unfortunately, this mean it was relatively slowly hovering away from the docks, making sure the walking-beam (loopplank) would fall into nothingness if the ship wasn't quickly held in place. M'azzal noticed this, too. "Stop keeping up with my pace. Keep the ship in place, or neither of us will make it on board," she shouted at Banserko over the roaring sounds coming from the ship. The red Toa looked at her, worried, but then nodded and started running twice as fast as his female companion did. In no time, he had gotten hold of a pole, which was usually used to tie smaller ships to, in one hand, and a (trede) of the ladder of the ship in the other.
M'azzal estimated the distance of the nearest pursuer, and the time he would need to walk onto the ship. She came to the conclusion that there was no way both she and Banserko would make it onto the airship. But if she could manage to take out the gang member with one good swoop, she would leave enough space between her and the other members to safely get on the ship with her Toa companion. She would take a chance for it.
She grabbed the handle of her scythe, and as she pulled it out she already spun around to deal her deadly blow. But, as she found out, she greatly understimated the pursuer's experience. He wasn't like those people from her reality. As she spun around, he had already pointed his sword at her, still thrusting forward.
One moment, she saw with both of her light green eyes the deadly experience in the deep yellow ones of her pursuer's, the other moment, half of the gang member disappeared, along with the villagescape behind him, making place for black nothingness. But she could still see his other half, and with her eyes she followed the blade of the sword, which didn't end until somewhere in the black rectangle that was her left field of vision.
For a moment, she felt surprise, but that surprise then made place for an overwhelming pain, somehow more unbearable than her Toa transformation or her near electrocution experience. Her hands dropped her weapon, and shot towards the wound that had just been her eye. The salt tears that dwelled up only added to the pain. Through her vague and halved vision, she could see the blade being pulled out, she could feel it even better, which made it worse, and the pursuer continues his run.
She didn't think about it, the pain and the realisation of the sudden irreversable change was too much for her. The despair came in flows, not only from the lΓΆss of her eye, but also from the loss of everything at home. Kevlin, dad, mom, the stars on her ceiling..
A black mask was thrown next to her, shattered into a million pieces, but she did not make a connection. Then, she felt a strong arm grabbing her around her waist, and pulling her up from the ground. She did not resist, did not fight back, even though she did not know who or what had picked her up. She suddenly felt tired. All she wanted was to sleep.
Through her butchered vision, she could see purple spots forming a trail on the bricks underneath her, following her as something strong held her in one arm by her waist. Unexpectedly she moved away from the ground in an upwards motion. Somewhere in her tired, depressed mind she realised that the person holding her had lept an amazing distance, and was now climbing up something. The purple trail had stopped forming, but almost constantly droos of puprple disappeared into the full blackness underneath her, only filled in by her right arm.
M'azzal continues her quest with an eye patch and without her scythe. Her destroyed eye is removed by Ammat and the eyehole of her mask remains unpatched, aside from some loose bits being removed. Her handicap is now a strong and cruel reminder to her how others feel and are going through the same feelings, but with no way to defend themselves against evil. It also reminds her to think better about her actions, and motivates her to eventually get combat training from Kinnial
