had an idea for one of the races and a place so i doodled it

When the meteor fell towards earth, one of the remaining giants of the old age rose up, arms wide and ready. It caught the meteor, halting it before it could even kiss the earth's crust. The heat and impact, along with the mysterious minerals and elements within the alien rock caused the creature to petrify in place, a living statue. the people who live there worship the elder, making sure to take best care of its stiffened body. They evolved to be immune against the rock's radiation, and changed accordingly.
