Extra Information: Estemmenosuchus is a bull-sized animal with a sprawling gait, recognized for its massive, bony, branched protuberances which grow upwards and outwards from its head- somewhat similar to the antlers of a moose. There are also protuberances which grow from its cheeks and on its snout. These are covered with horn and are larger in males than in females- males use theirs for display and fighting over females and territory. The Estemmenosuchus’ lifestyle is similar to that of a modern hippo. It spends a majority of the time submerged in water during the day, and will become active during the early morning and evenings to graze on vegetation, or to scavenge carrion. The mouth is wide and contains large, sharp incisors and long canine teeth, which interlock when the jaws are closed.
