Description .. And let's face it, Amy and Rory didn't even seem to care this much...

SPOILERS FOR DW 6x08

I found Doctor Who 6x08 awesome.. but also kinda weird. The Doctor is lucky Mels/River showed up when she did... to distract from the fact that he completely failed to do what he said he would and find Melody. I just like the idea of the Doctor stalling for time til that happened.

And as seems to be the norm in my comics, the Ponds resort to violence to vent their emotions. And they take turns apparently.

Yeah the last season wasn't so bad, 'cept that Winston Churchill episode. The Christmas Special was pretty good, odd, but good. Doctor Who usually comes on at 8, so I was reading a book until 8:50, then found out that I hadn't actually missed the new episode, it came on at 9! So I ended up seeing it. It was really confusing at the beginning, I had no idea what was going on. I mean, if an amateur had written it, then I'd say it was okay, and that they could use some work w/ making it believable w/ depth and flow. Except these people are supposed to be professionals, I guess my expectations for them must be too high or something. The Doctor was barely in it! It was all about AMY! If I didn't know better, I'd say she was the main character and the Doctor was just a supporting character.

Have you ever played Portal? Last night's episode reminded me of it a lot.

Oh wow, I can't believe I didn't see that! It does seem a lot like Portal xD Lol 'old' Amy was a bit of a douche bag xP 36 years is a long time, they made her a lot smarter, she was able to make the whole sonic 'probe' and hack into all that stuff. I just don't see her as being that smart, she is a kiss-a-gram after all xP

Yeah, unless being in the TARDIS has melted her brain to some degree.

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-13 01:24:14 +0000 UTC]

Probably Speaking of the TARDIS, was the Doctor always this bad at going to the right time period? I remember him messing up once with taking Rose home, then another time with the werewolf, all the other times he pretty much go to where he was going, but with Amy, its like the universe is saying "don't take her with you." I do like Rory though, Amy is too in-the-spotlight. Its like, the show is all about her and she knows it. I mean, the Doctor is like a 900 year old time lord, I think he knows a bit more about these things than she does.
I love Donna! She's great, I like Rose and Martha to, but Donna was my favorite, I wish they'd kept her around longer. She's better than Amy.

Davidwoodfx In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-13 15:13:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it does seem like he's going to the wrong dates more than usual, even though The Doctor's Wife made it sound like that was going to happen a lot less often. Rory is such an underdog you can't help but love him. I'm more annoyed with River Song than Amy, at least Amy knows her place when around the Doctor, but River is all, 'Hey look at me, I'm technically a Timelady, heel boy!' Her cocky attitude makes me sick. Donna was a character, that's for sure. I really like her Granddad, Wilfred is awesome!

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-15 00:45:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah the Doctor's Wife did make it seem like that would stop happening I do love Rory, I like him more than Amy (she's just a bit too self centric. Like "oh, the Doctor is MY imaginary friend, he should only associate with moi.") OH MY GOD River Song is so annoying now! I mean, they made her a timelady and Amy and Rory's Daughter, thats just too much. I don't like either of those things, but if they had do something like than they should have just picked one or the other, not both. She's so full of herself, I hate people who are really full of themselves. I love Donna's first episode, Runaway Bride, she was so funny xD Oh and Wilfred's like the best! They should bring him back! With these new series is like they've just dropped everything else, as if all the other series just didn't happen. In the Doctor Who specials, David Tennant was all "I don't want another companion, I just want to alone and mope." But as soon as they started with Matt Smith, he'd only known Amy for like 5 minutes and he already wanted to take her with him. You think he'd be even sadder, with the Time Lords dying, again. I wish they'd bring Wilfred back, at least for a little while.

Davidwoodfx In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-15 16:35:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it's annoying they just dropped the previous series. When 9 regenerated he still had the same dark, frustrated attitude. When 10 regenerated it was kinda like, "Hey! I didn't die, let's party!" Also I don't like how promiscuous 11 is, supposedly marrying Marilyn Monroe.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-15 22:38:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah with 10 they still went back to things with 9, it was still in the same story line, but with 11 its like an entirely different show. I didn't get that, he married Marilyn Monroe? That just doesn't really make sense and its kinda promiscuous. I thought he was married to River Song, they really could have done her better. I liked her in Silence in the Library, now she's just mad xP I love 10 I hope they bring Jack back to, Torchwood just ended again, I mean it was like a 2 year wait in between Children of Earth and Miracle Day, I don't want to wait another 2 years for anything. I'm not that patient Do you watch Torchwood? I never really saw the Sarah Jane Adventures, I always just saw her with 3 and 4, but its still sad what happened to Elisabeth Sladen. She died like the day after my birthday Kind of depressing.

Davidwoodfx In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-16 00:12:40 +0000 UTC]

I watched one episode of Torchwood, too much violence and swearing for my likes. I have watched all of the SJA seasons, that show is really well done. 10 is in an episode and 11 is in another. Yeah it's terrible she died, her and the Brigadier. Both had so much more to offer.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-16 18:26:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I know what you mean, I watch it just on TV so they really take out most of the swearing and violence so its not that bad. So SJA is really good? I should give it a try then it never comes on TV as far as I can tell I'll have to try and watch it online or something. Yeah I was so sad when I found out. Technically she died on April 19th, but in my time zone it was still the 18th I was like "yay, it's my birthday!" then my friend in Birmingham called me and was like "happy birthday, and oh yeah Elisabeth Sladen DIED!!!!!" That was really, really depressing. Its a shame, she was still really young

Oooo really? I'll have to watch ALL the episodes soon so that I can be ready I just watched the new episode, I didn't love all of it, but it was a lot better than the other recent ones, I won't say specifics in case you haven't seen it. Next week looks pretty good A ton my favorite shows are all coming back next week, I'm so excited. Fringe, Castle, How I Met Your Mother, The Mentalist, Supernatural (It's going to suck but I have to watch it anyway.) xD I'm gonna miss a lot of stuff soon, I'm hosing a German Exchange student. I don't want to be rude when she's going to be here for 2 weeks, so I'm just going to have to record everything and watch it once she leaves xP its going to be torture.

Last night's episode was good, but like almost all in the last two seasons it was anti-climactic. Also it wasn't as creepy as the previews made it look. I'm looking forward to next week's The Lodger was one of my favorites from last year, Craig was funny.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-19 20:48:27 +0000 UTC]

So, I just wrote this long reply saying stuff like "yeah it was really good, not as creepy as I thought it would be, but good" and "yeah everything in the last two was unbelievably anti-climactic, I was so disappointed, they went on about that crack for so long." Some other stuff about how The Lodger was totally my favorite episode, I even listed a "Craig" quote or two. And "I can't wait for this Saturday because I love Craig and it looks awesome xD" So I wrote all of that, tons of exclamation points and all-caps, and I was just about ready to send it, when my computer decided to shut down. For no reason. I don't think it likes me very much Anyway, I hope this means the writers are finally getting their act together or at least firing some people. That works to xD

I loved Blink xD I haven't heard the Sound of Drums or Big Bang Two, I'll look for those I hope tonight's episode is really good, I don't want to make my expectations too high. Supernatural came on last night, and my expectations were so unbelievably low, there was no way it could seem bad to me Then Fringe came on, and my expectations were so high, I was really disappointed

Davidwoodfx In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-25 02:11:56 +0000 UTC]

I really liked tonight's episode, except for the gay references. The part where the Doctor was trying to distract Craig be saying he loved him was hilarious though. I thought Matt's acting during the scenes of him talking about his death was really top-notch, it was solemn but there was this calm effect about it, unlike David's frantic attitude.

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-25 17:28:00 +0000 UTC]

I really liked the episode tonight to! Lol I loved when he was trying to distract Craig by saying he loved him, I was just laughing like crazy xD Craig was just like "what?" then when he saw the cybermen and his reaction was just perfect xD Yeah I thought Matt's acting was really great then, I have more respect for him now Amy was a model or something, she just seems very, I dunno, slutty, I guess. The last bit with River was kind of weird, they just keep changing her personality from extreme to other extreme and so on. The preview for next week showed a whole lot of stuff, is it like a 2 hour thing? Because I don't know how they can get all that stuff in just one episode

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Davidwoodfx In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-25 23:08:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah the finale should be two hours long. I don't understand how Amy and Rory didn't see the Doctor, they were walking right toward him before the little girl stopped them. I think River's personality and attitude keep changing because we're not seeing her character develop in the right order, her and the Doctor keep meeting out of sequence.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-26 00:22:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I don't have much hope for them fitting everything into that one hour, it just seems like a bit too much. Its like trying to fit Journey's End into like a 45 minute time-slot, its not possible. Well, its possible, but it wouldn't be good. Yeah, I was like "are you blind, he's right there!" that, and how the Doctor didn't notice the giant picture of Amy in while he was walking around there all the time xP good point, the time lines are all messed up, I can understand that. My favorite River episodes are the ones with David Tennant, in the library xD she's all mysterious and stuff.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Davidwoodfx In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-26 16:25:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah she was much more respectful to the Doctor, at that point I didn't really want her to be the companion but I wasn't completely against it like I am now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-26 21:00:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I didn't really want her to be a companion, but I wasn't against her or anything, like I am now With all the other companions their families are involved and stuff, but not Amy or Rory. Its like they have no connection to the real world. They never went into friends or family really with them, except when they added in River as Mels, that just did not work, it was completely out of the blue. I love Donna because she was so funny, and Wilfred was just really awesome, they should seriously bring him back her mother was kind of obnoxious, so was Martha's mother, and I didn't like Jackie at first, but she grew on me I guess xP

Hahaha yeah, he had celery on his jacket xD That was a good episode, not what I was expecting when series 3 ended (I can't help but have been expecting something like Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, I suppose they really thought out of the box for that) but it was good Oh I thought that was Donna's grandad xD I love that guy They never really explained how Martha was marring that dude Tom or something from Last of the Time Lords, then ended up marring Micky instead. I do like Micky, he just seems WAY more badass than he was with Rose and 9, not so much cute little underdog anymore xP

They should bring them back to but yeah, it's like none of those things with 10 ever happened. 11 hasn't even mentioned Rose, or Martha, or Donna, I think their pictures were up for maybe half a second in the Mels episode

Oh my god thanks! I just watched it! I feel like it was kind of like reading off a list, it didn't really make any sense I was pretty disappointed, I had no idea what was going on. There was no flow. They just went from thing to thing. I didn't like the whole all-of-time-is-happening-at-once thing, that didn't make sense. I kind of called what was going to happen at the end by accident xP I was talking with this girl I know, Olivia, she LOVES the new writers, thinks the show is way better than its ever been! I've been trying to get her to see the light xP but anyway, I was talking about how Rory had been a robot, then the robot man in the Churchill episode, and then the little people in the robot. I said that I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up making the Doctor into a robot in the end and then they did. No, my partner, An Vi, has never heard of it. I don't think my DVDs have German subtitles, so I can't really show her anything. Her English isn't THAT good. We watched Stranger than Fiction in my Creative Writing class today, An Vi was so lost I felt bad. I also had to take her to my advanced English class, where we spend an hour discussing the different uses of the literary devices and a deeper meaning in this short little excerpt xP it was boring. Luckily tomorrow, she'll just come with me to my German class, then maybe some math (i have a test *gasp*) then she and the other students are going to meet the mayor or something so she won't have to go to Computer Art and Physics I don't want to bore her to death. I haven't really spoken any German to her at all, I'm afraid I'm going to say it wrong or something, or my accent will be too thick and she won't understand I've only written some German stuff on a note I passed her during English xP

Yeah the minute the Doctor talked to the little people again I was thinking, "Oh no, not another predictable loop hole" and then they did it. Just like when they announced River was the Ponds' daughter. I think it's funny it's the second time the Doctor has ended up with a beard. How did those skulls eat the viking dude? And why did the Doc have to "marry" River if all they had to do was touch? SO many dumb plot-holes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-10-07 21:23:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah exactly! How did they eat anyone? That makes no sense! Sculls can't 'eat'. It's not possible. But it the heads are still "alive" then why were there any sculls to begin with? I don't think they put a lot of thought into it Maybe wrote it on a napkin over breakfast or something xD Good point, why did the Doctor marry River, I don't get it. They probably just thought they were giving us what we wanted, instead of good writing xP

Well, i think they do care, but they now realize theres nothing they can do about raising their own child, because they both grew up with her. The Doctor Taking her away so she could be raised by the ponds in present day would screw up the pattern of the timeline. They know nothing can be done at all now. But inside it hurts them both. I could see it in Rory during Night Terrors, and im sure we'll see it next week with Amy.

In theory, you're absolutely right.. but I don't feel their distress/acceptance was that obvious. Moffat's great with action/scary monsters/timey wimey stuff.. I just think they skipped over Amy and Rory's emotional developments for the sake of the plot.

But hey, we can all see it differently.
