Description

After a long week, Balance Blade likes to do different things to relax and recover. Normally he likes to hang out with friends, but he also enjoys to spend some time for himself. This time, he decided to travel to a lake, with the purpose of having a nice swim and enjoying the scenery.

When he arrived, he set up near a few trees that provided shade for him on the sunny day that was. It was quite the lively scene, with birds singing a soft tune, the wind steadily blowing across, and the hill's reflection on the water's lake. A sight that can bring tranquility to those looking for it; the perfect place to relax.

Soon enough, Blade started walking towards the lake while feeling the sunlight gently striking on top of him. He felt the water a little before starting to walk towards a deeper end. The temperature was pleasant to the touch, thanks to the warmth of the sun's light, which was just about right for a swim. The water was crystaline, allowing to see what lies within it's depths. Many flora and fauna could be seen, making it a very colorful spectacle. The size of the lake housed many different sizes and shapes of fish, and even with the clear waters, it wasn't enough to see it fully.

Once he was deep enough, he quickly wet his head to have his body used to the water's feel a bit more quickly, and started swimming forward. Every stroke of his arms into the water made a small wave that extended outwards and slowly faded into it's normal state. Soon enough, he was in a spot where the fish started to be more frequent, and where a few corals could be seen grow.

He stopped swimming until he slowed to a halt, and looked down to see how far down was the bottom. He started taking deep breaths, preparing his lungs and body, and dove downwards away from the surface. He opened his eyes to find a soft sensation of the clean water, allowing him to see clearly. As he kept going downwards, the colors were much clearer, making it quite the scenario for nature. Groups of fish swimming about, corals and other plants resting at the bottom and the sand smoothly covering the bottom like a single sheet of silk.

When he reached the bottom, he touched the sand to feel it's rough texture, yet it was still soft enough to slide on and sturdy enough to not break thanks to the water. He then continued swimming along the sand's level, looking around at all the colors, as well as at the surface, which was showing a grand lightshow with the sunlight piercing the surface and landing on top of the surroundings, making the scene all the more colorful.

Soon enough, he started preparing to swim back up to the surface to get some fresh air, but was met with an unexpected surprise. As he started moving upwards, his head bumped into something soft, making him release some air in surprise. When he looked, he saw a shiny something which he could see through. Confused at this, he swam back a little bit to see better, and it was clear. It was a bubble much bigger than the ones he would normally see surface around him. This one was as big as a hand mirror, and acted in a similar fashion, since he could see his face being reflected off of it. For a moment, he ignored his need of air, and poked the bubble, curious on why it won't float up. It wobbled sharply, indicating that it did have air in it.

He released more air after this, since he had been underwater for a bit of time now. However, before he could react to swim upwards, the bubble pushed against his face as if it knew about his need for air. When he didn't feel any liquid surround his face, he gave a large gasp of fresh air from the bubble, and it was followed by a few more breaths. He poked the bubble with his hand again, surprised at what he was witnessing. The size of the bubble only offered a small amount of air, since it shrank with every breath he took from it, eventually consuming all of it. Blade held his breath again, now refreshed, allowing him to swim near the sand for longer.

He was confused, yet pleasantly surprised at this. He didn't know who or what made that bubble, so he started to search around for it's origin. He arrived at a deeper end of the lake, where even more fish were swimming about, and more plants grouped together. He found more bubbles of that size when he got closer to the bottom and wondered what could be creating them. And that's where he saw it. A bubble that was the biggest of all of the ones around, bigger than Blade himself. He was surprised to find something like this in the nature. He swam closer to it, seeing his reflection on it. It was a soothing sensation, seeing himself on the giant sphere with the light reflecting off from it. He moved his arm closer to poke the bubble, feeling a soft sensation from it.

Blade thought that the lake was trying to tell him something, probably inviting him to hang out for longer in this natural playground, and for good reason. He could feel all of his worries being swept away by the water's swift currents. It was one of the gifts from nature: to have a place where you can clear your mind and forget about your problems, even if just for a moment.

He swam forward to hug the bubble, as if he was showing his apperciation of this and started to be playful with it. He bounced it upwards like a giant beach ball, and it gently floated downwards back to him. He still wasn't sure what drove this behavior on the bubble, but he didn't mind all that much anymore. He swam on top of it and let his weight squish it down. This made it bounce softly on the sand and made it move slowly across the water that surrounded him. He smiled at this, and made it bounce more, almost as if he was jumping on the moon, slowly moving upwards and back downwards.

Feeling a sensation of happiness that he hasn't felt in a long time, he lays on top of the bubble like a bed with the softest cotton. He looked up at the surface letting through the light, which was slowly fading into the bottom. Another one of nature's pretty sights.

The air he had gotten from the previous bubble had run short, and he let out some of his air once more. He was going to swim up to the surface to get air, but he remembered that the smaller bubble from earlier had given him air. So instead, he decided to start hugging the bubble again, this time from the top, squishing it even more. It wasn't long before the bubble's soft membrane gave, allowing him through with a soft plop sound that resonated in the water.

Blade gave a deep breath again, feeling once again refreshed, only this time, he was completely surrounded by the bubble. It was by far the most relaxing feeling of the day. Seeing the lake through the translucent layer, with the colors reflecting onto the bubble, showing an even brighter spectacle. The light piercing through the surface gently pouring on top of the bubble, the schools of fish approaching could be seen much more clearly now, and the sound of the water resonating inside the bubble. It was a view unlike any other of it's kind.

He was admiring his surroundings, laying down on the bottom of the bubble like a hammock between two trees, and as such, it was gently moving along the current of the water. After such a day, Blade had grown tired, but wasn't sure if he wanted to swim to the surface anymore, specially after having the lake give him such a welcoming surprise. So he decided to stay down in the bubble for the time being, admiring the scenery once more. He cuddled in his spot, lulled by the smooth motion of the bubble beneath the currents, and the calming sound of the water surrounding him.

He slowly drifted off to sleep, wondering if the bubble would carry him to the surface before he woke up. Who knows if it really was the lake who did this for him, or if it was someone that didn't want to be seen. In the end, the experience was something to truly enjoy.

This was something I dd to take a break from commissions, as well as doing something water related because I haven't done something like this in some time now. I studied a few art pieces with this kind of scene, and the colors used here really help with the effect!

The story for this one is of a more lighthearted theme, which was inspired by some of the stories from a friend. I'm really happy to have done this!
