Description In 1970 The Reverend Wilbert Awdry released the stories of Duke the lost engine. At the time Prince and Duke were the only England engines in running condition, and other survivors like Palmerston were believed to far gone. A small railway society was formed in an attempt to create a New England of the Larger variant, as only Welsh Pony remained of the larger Englands. Over the next few years funds were raised, and by 1976 the society had received permission to examine the decaying large England and Its operating brothers. In 1978 after slight delays work finally commenced of the engines construction. The engine was slowly constructed over the next 4 years until in early 1982 when the engine was fired for the first time. She was given the name Countess, and ran with a small train of coaches on a small line built on farmland that one of the society members owned, and there she stayed until 1994 when the owner of the farm passed. The remining society members reached out to the MSHR, and a deal was made which put her on long term loan to the railway. She continues to work there to this day, only having left the line once in 2012 for a gathering of all surviving Englands. At the event she finally got to meet her brothers and sister for the first time. When she arrived at the gathering she was worried that they wouldn't know who she was, only to find out they had all been wanting to meet her for years. She cant wait until she gets to see them again. What she doesn't know yet, is that next time she does, there might be a new face among them.
