  "Mom! He's doing the thing again!" Jezel grumped as she stalked up the stairs. The purple haired girl's face was locked in a look of continuous disappointment.
    "What is he doing now?" Drusilla asked without looking up from cleaning the guest bedroom out. Penny just stared kind of awkwardly in the corner. The unease of being in an unfamiliar place in the midst of what seemed like family drama settling in.
    "You really don't need to go to this much trouble for me--" She started for what seemed like the seventh or eighth time.
    Drusilla waved her hand dismissively, "Nonsense, you're a guest here dear. Now, Jezel sweetheart, what is he doing now?"

  Jezel was tapping her foot impatiently, "He's checking to make sure the iron knife he buried under the stoop is still there."
    "Dang it all to Home, he's going to ruin the tomato garden again!" Drusilla huffed. Sounding not at all as put out as her words made it seem
    "The wha?" Penny asked, quite perplexed, "why would the knife matter? Especially there."
    Jezel sighed, "It's an old oooold ooooold, like mom old--"

  "--myth that said you could keep succubus powers contained or limited by burying a pure iron knife under a door frame, so he does it every time he shows up." A loud curse came from outside. "Oh no, what is he up to now?!" Jezel moaned as she stormed down the stairs
    Drusilla chucked, the sound of silk through bells, that made an odd twitch in penny's eyebrow, "Next he'll be searching for the iron horseshoes."
    Something clicked in Penny's head, "YOU'RE A DEMON!" she spat, rather stupidly. and then quieter, "You're THAT Drusilla?!"
    The Succubus gave her a withering look, "you've met others with the name 'Drusilla'? I'm fairly certain nobody has that one anymore."
    "Besides? Why would you even come here not knowing that?"
    "S-s-s-s-saint George m-m-m-mentioned a f-field evaluation in C-Canada, " her stutter was becoming pronounced in the presence of a creature of darkness. She had a minor experience with the supernatural and read about it plenty of times, but being face to face with a demon capable of burning London to the ground brought out every anxiety.
    Drusilla made a rumble in her throat, "Did he now.... I see...." She reached out and cupped Penny's chin to steady the girls chattering Jaw.
    Penny caught the glint in Drusilla's golden eyes, and for the briefest of seconds the inner fire there made her question multiple orientations--all at the same time. She then made a mental note that succubi were a lot scarier than she had given them credit for in her reading.
    Drusilla seemed to catch herself, "Whoops! Did I leave that on? Sorry dear--old age and all that." The feelings of dread and...other things died away immediately.
    The sounds of Jezel and George arguing outside carried up to through the upstairs window. Something about the lack of milk in the tri-county area and not enough horseshoes
    "S-so How did you get out of H-hell? I th-thought demons dispersed into the corpus infernum when you were banished to the Underworld."
    Drusilla smiled, "Georgie thought that too, Imagine the look on his face when all that disappeared was my powers and my clothes. Poor thing was so embarrassed. For being married so many times you'd think he'd never seen a woman before."
    "He--I--What?!"
    "To answer your question. We were found by Bob, who I think at the time was a Janitor--fortunately no one thought him important enough to care about--so they never expected him to know the way to Ramiel's gate out of Hell."
    "So, we made it halfway out...and Mammon took exception to that," Dru said matter of factly as she pulled herself to her feet, giving Penny a hand up.
    "H-he fought Mammon?!" Penny exclaimed, knowledge of the princes of hell was required learning for the infernal combat course.
    "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhh," Drusilla gave a noncommittal gesture with her hand, "More like he survived Mammon. She was pretty mad that he killed two of her kids and was stepping out of her place and stepping on the toes of the big D when she tried to get our souls for her collection"
    "You have a soul?!" That info was just as shocking as the last
    "Details," Drusilla waved off what seemed like fairly crucial information, "Long story short, Ramiel allowed all four of us to pass after a lucky break fighting Mammon."
    "Wait, Four? You mean...that other Succubus is..."

  "Cambrion is the more accurate term if you need dear."
    "I need a drink I think..."
    "It's thanksgiving dear, we've got plenty if this is a lot to take in."
    "So...is that why you...tolerate each other...so well? He helped save you?" Penny couldn't really think of the words to describe the Succubus' and the Saint's relationship.

  Drusilla looked honestly perplexed for the first time that evening, "What? Why no dear. Despite how mean and grumpy he likes to pretend he is, he's really a big softie."

  It was Penny's turn to be confused, "That didn't really explain all of...well...this." She gestured to to the chaos unfolding in the living room.

  Drusilla smiled, a warm thing--nothing at all like the previous seduction aura, genuine mirth and happiness, "I was lucky enough to be blessed with a family who helped me get through the worst part of my life. So to answer your question dear, the reason we get along so well despite how our natures should dictate, is because he's family."
