Background: Apple Fly is the child of not Fluttershy and AppleJack but Fluttershy and Big Mac. But Apple Fly is used to people thinking that. Her parents got together when Discord disappeared breaking Fluttershy's heart. AppleJack didn't like seeing her friend like this and got her brother to help Fluttershy out knowing he can be just as shy as her. It took a while but Big Mac helped Fluttershy heal and ended up getting the courage to ask her out. Fluttershy was shocked but accepted, 2 years later was when Apple Fly was born. It wasn't until Apple Fly became one that Discord appeared in Ponyville again. He didn't like the fact Big Mac was with Fluttershy but after seeing that their child Apple Fly seemed so happy around him he asked if he could be a godparent.

He was, in fact, a help in Apple Fly getting her cutie mark cause one day she saw a bird stuck in a tree and Fluttershy was out at the time. Discord was nearby so she asked him to help her get the bird due to her wings not being fully grown yet. Discord let her on his back and flew up to the bird. The bird wouldn't move at first making Apple Fly realise it was scared to fly. Apple Fly began to speak to the bird saying they couldn't fly yet and they were up here with some help and said the bird could do it. The bird decided to have a go at flying and managed to fly. This made Apple Fly happy and she then got her cutie mark. She loved helping animals while also helping about at the Apple Family Farm when she went over there. This combined got Apple Fly her cutie mark symbolising her helpful nature.
