Description
So this is Lena. She's from the same(?) story as Enyo. Probably, aloooooot of changes have been made to that story. It was two story ideas at one point.
This is the brightest colored thing in my finished folder and it still took me a solid minute to find it even though that folder is basically empty.
Anyway this is character I've had for like I guess 11 years now. I started this like a year ago and just straight up abandoned it like 3 or 4 times cause the pose was giving me so much trouble. And I never really got past that till a few weeks ago when I was working on the latest Crow drawing and cleaning my art folders. By which I mean seeing what I was going to save as flatten collages of sketchs and which ones I was going to force myself to finish drawing before start anymore drawings. Of course that not a rule I can keep myself to, but this one was kinda both. I really like the original sketch and pose, but even the intial line work that was there couldn't get that head tilt. And I really like what line work I had there, but there was no way I was going to finish with that super precise outline style I had going in the deadline I set for myself. I also had to totally change the lower half of her pose and how her hand were positioned. I just couldn't get that to work.
I think the changes I had to make are fine, but I do really like how it turned out overall. I was really struggling with getting the walls to look like walls and not just colored glass, but I figured it out. And I love the whole rust thing I thought about at the end, since the building they're all trapped in was abandoned at one point. This was supposed be about the color and lighting, but I kinda forgot to plan for that before I actually was pretty deep into it.
I love how her eyes came out though and the like rim light on her hair. I did really struggle with the colors though. Like I knew she had like turquiose hair color, but I just couldn't get it. For some reason at finshed she ended up really like ashy and sort of pale. Then I tried giving her darkskin, but I still ended making her ashy somehow and at one point her skin ended up being bright orange. The shades of her hair were constantly clashing with her skin and eyes and gown. Her clothes were even more of nightmare then both her hair and skin. I knew I wanted her in a greyish green hospital gown, but it just wasn't working out.
